Drug Policy and Migration in Latin America & the Caribbean: A Panel Discussion with Field Reporters

On Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, join the World Affairs Council of Miami for a discussion on Drug Policy and Migration in Latin America and the Caribbean. Moderating will be Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award recipient journalist Christina "Boomer" Vazquez, WPLG Local 10 News. The panel discussion will allow several field reporters to share their on-the-ground expertise and observations from across the region.

2022 Academic WorldQuest Competition
Announcing an opportunity for high school students to exhibit their knowledge of world affairs!


Academic WorldQuest is a nationwide competition to test high school students’ knowledge of current international politics, geography, global economics, history, and world cultures. Its purpose is to prepare the next generation of leaders, scholars, and decision-makers to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Each year, over 50 World Affairs Councils across the country hold local Academic WorldQuest competitions for high school students in their communities. The local competition in Miami-Dade County will take place in early April 2022, with the winning team then invited on an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC later that month to represent their high school and compete in the Carlos and Malú Alvarez Academic WorldQuest National Competition at the United States Peace Institute!

The World Affairs Council of Miami was pleased to host our 2022 inaugural Distinguished Speaker Series event in association with The Honors College at Miami Dade College. Dr. Seth Jones, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Senior Vice President, Harold Brown Chair, Director of the International Security Program, and Director of the Transnational Threats Project presented on international security and Russia, China, and Iran.
