Highlights of the February Town Council Meeting

The Town Council met on February 2nd. They took action on the following items:

  • The Council voted to move forward with upgrading electric vehicle (“EV”) charging infrastructure, and approved adding an EV truck to the Department of Public Works fleet. The Police Department has ordered its first all-electric vehicle, at no cost to the Town to replace a vehicle lost in a collision. The Council also approved improvements to the Pavilion photovoltaic system.

  • After holding a public hearing and considering an application from Element 7/Fairfax Remedy for several discretionary permits for a proposed medical cannabis storefront retailer/adult-use retail delivery-only business, the Council continued the matter to its next meeting (March 2nd) and asked staff to bring back a resolution denying the application. The Council also continued the Appeal of the Planning Commission’s denial of the Formula Business Conditional Use Permit for the same project, to March 2nd.

This Black History Month, Fairfax proudly celebrates and recognizes the achievements of Black Americans and recognizes their central role in American history.

All month long, the Marin County Free Library will be hosting special events online to create awareness and appreciation, including through books, films, art, public discussions, and other programming.

“Food for the Soul: Celebrate Black History at MCFL” can be found on marinlibrary.org/BHM. The programming was created in conjunction with County of Marin African American Employees Association (COMAEA).

MCFL’s streaming service, Kanopy, has an extensive collection of documentaries and films to entertain and educate. Search for “Black History Month” “Black Lives Matter” or “African American” to bring up a selection.
