Dr. Daffner is the J. David and Virginia Wimberly Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, the Stephen Muss Clinical Director of the Alzheimer Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), and Chief of the Division of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology at BWH. Under his leadership, BWH has become a world-class multi-disciplinary center dedicated to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research in the fields of cognitive neurology and dementia. Dr. Daffner’s research has focused on the neurological foundations of executive control functions and attention to novelty. He has studied the neural underpinnings of different patterns of cognitive aging and is investigating strategies for promoting brain health in individuals as they get older. Dr. Daffner is a past president of the National Society of Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology. Recently, he received this organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Daffner is committed to training the next generation of clinicians, and serves as director of the fellowship program in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry at BWH.
