Restoration Update!

The River Parkway Trust restoration technicians recently finished mitigation plantings at the Sycamore Island Trout Pond.

In total, the Trust staff planted 60 Fremont cottonwoods and 63 Goodding’s willow to go with the 70 native shrubs that were planted at the end of October. We received the cottonwoods from the Scout Island Education Center’s plant nursery and planted dormant pole cuttings harvested from local Goodding’s willow.

These plantings were completed through a contract with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and are mitigation for the trees removed as part of the Trout Pond Improvement Project completed in 2020.
