Farmington Public Schools’ (FPS) International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) offers world-class college-preparation. The IBDP is housed at Farmington High School and is available to all FPS high school students.
The IBDP is designed for highly motivated students interested in earning the IB Diploma, or individual IB Courses, in addition to their high school diploma. IB offers high quality programs of international education to a worldwide community of schools.
The first two years in the program are considered to be IB Prep where the classes and the content are intended to prepare the student for the standards and requirements of the full IB program. The last two years of the program is what is considered to be the actual IB program where students take IB classes based on the IB curriculum. All IB programs adhere to the IB Learner Profile where learners are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

FPS Board of Education selects School Exec Connect to lead Superintendent Search
|
On Friday, February 12, the Farmington Public Schools’ (FPS) Board of Education reviewed the six Superintendent Search Firms who had interviewed on January 26. Each of the Board members were given firms to research and check references.
The Board of Education then voted and the firm selected was School Exec Connect based out of Illinois. School Exec Connect was founded in 2004 and has become one of the leading educational search firms in the Midwest with 60 consultants, more than 400 searches completed throughout the United States, and a 96 percent placement success rate. They define their success in selecting superintendents by the longevity of the leaders they place, the repeat services to their client districts, and the positive and long-lasting relationships they establish with the boards with whom they work. The consulting fee as listed in the request for proposals was listed as $23,500 with expenses not to exceed $7,500.
The consultants who will assist FPS in the search for a new superintendent are Dr. Kevin O’Mara, President and Dr. Steven Matthews, Associate for School Exec Connect.
O’Mara has been with the firm for the past seven years. He is the retired superintendent of Argo Community High School District and is currently Associate Professor in Educational Leadership at Concordia University. Matthews is currently the superintendent of the Novi Community School District, where he has served since 2011.
The Board of Education will now work with School Exec Connect to decide on next steps for the Superintendent Search.
