Closing your Shopify Account
If you have a Shopify account that was set up by JA, please review and complete the following steps to close down.
Note: As JA is the store owner, we will officially close the store on our end once you have completed the next steps.
- Review the information on this site: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/pause-close-store#close-your-store
- Make sure you have fulfilled all of your orders. You can set your online store with a password to stop any additional orders coming in.
- Make sure that you pay any outstanding charges that you might have.
- Save your store information by exporting CSV files. You can choose to save your bills by exporting your billing history.
- If you have any third-party apps that have your payment information outside of Shopify, then cancel your service with those apps to avoid being billed externally after you close your store.
All stores will be closed by May 31 unless you have requested to keep your store.
Continuing your business
If you would like to keep your store, you can request for a transfer of ownership. When liquidating, you will have to sell off any remaining assets (if applicable) to yourselves (or whoever has agreed to continue the company) and then we will request Shopify to move the ownership of the Shopify account to you and your members. Keep in mind you will then be responsible for all Shopify membership fees going forward as soon as you are no longer affiliated with JA.

Student Interview Night
Congratulations to all individual students who were nominated for Company Program Awards and to all the teams who submitted for the group awards! Thank you to all advisors for completing the endorsements to ensure the awards move forward.
The applications are now in preliminary judging.
Short-listed candidates will be notified by email by April 26th. Short-listed candidates for individual and group awards* will be required to attend Student Interview Night on May 5, 2021 between 5:30 to 8:15 p.m. The event will be held on Microsoft Teams. Specific instructions will be sent to all finalists.
*The following award categories are NOT required to present at Student Interview Night: JA Journey, Changemaker, Jane Eisbrenner Award.

Students: It's National Volunteer Week from April 18 to 24! We encourage you to find ways to thank your advisors throughout the week whether it's sending them a personal message of thanks, giving them a shoutout on social media or doing something nice for them during your meeting (if you're still meeting!)

Save the Date - ventureON 2021
STUDENTS & ADVISORS: You're all invited to attend our JA Central Ontario Company Program end of year virtual celebration, ventureON!
We will be announcing award winners and highlighting all company program achiever and advisor successes during this event. There will also be an opportunity to hear from special guest speakers, answer trivia, win door prizes and network with your fellow peers.

VP OF HR: In your final attendance and student list, please ensure you follow these instructions:
- Indicate your final attendance % for each active student
- Indicate clearly which students are no longer active (i.e. have dropped out)
- Sort your list in alphabetical order by FIRST NAME (and then last name)
- Rename your file the name of your JA Company
- Upload your file in these formats only: Excel Spreadsheet or PDF

Yearbook Form
This year we will once again be making a digital Company Program yearbook featuring each one of our 43 virtual Company Program teams! The yearbook will also feature award winners and finalists, Company Program events and your advisors.
A digital copy of the yearbook will be available online by June and will be emailed to Company Program students and advisors to have as a keepsake.
We want to showcase all of our teams and share the amazing successes you have accomplished throughout your entrepreneurial journey. Therefore, we would like a 100% response rate from all of our teams.
It is MANDATORY for each team to fill out ONE yearbook form.
Please submit this form by Friday, April 30th.
Each team that submits by the deadline will receive 50 points for the team challenge award!

Calendar Update & Business Activities Extension
IMPORTANT UPDATE: We have decided to give teams a bit more time to finish sales and wrap up their businesses. Please note the following important details regarding this extension.
CP CALENDAR:
-
April 5-9 is the scheduled last week (Week 18)
-
April 12-16 will now be the scheduled "March Break" (you can opt to meet this week too but it is not mandatory)

April 19-23 will be an optional week for teams to finish up if they need the time
-
April 26 to May 14 additional 3 weeks of business operations (including liquidation) granted. Teams must let us know they are taking this extension by emailing companyprogram@jacentralontario.org
WHAT DOES THE EXTENSION MEAN:
-
OPERATIONS: You can continue to operate beyond April 23 until May 14.
-
LIQUIDATION: Your team must be liquidated and closed no later than May 14.
- DELIVERABLES & DEADLINES:
- Your team is still required to submit all required submissions (including fixed costs) by the indicated deadlines (see deadlines below).

SHAREHOLDERS' REPORT: In order to collect your team challenge points AND/OR if you are applying for any of the GROUP AWARDS, you must submit a report by April 23rd based on the following:

If you have liquidated and closed by April 23rd, please submit your FINAL shareholders report.

If you have not liquidated and closed by April 23rd, please submit a SNAPSHOT to date of your current operations (including financials) at the time of submission AND a FINAL UPDATE by May 14.
- If you make a profit of $500 or more, you will be required to pay the sales profits tax by May 14th.
PLEASE NOTE:
- This extension is OPTIONAL. You must decide as a team if you wish to take it.
- Any team meetings with advisors beyond the required 18 weeks is at your advisors' discretion and capacity.

End of Year
It is nearing the end of the year! While you can take advantage of the April Break and the optional week, it is time to start thinking about wrapping up your Company Program.
In the next few weeks, your team will be:
- Wrapping up your sales
- Completing your liquidation process and preparing your final shareholders' report
- Preparing for your final meeting
- Reflecting on your Company Program experience (reviewing where you're at in your personal and team goals, your KPIs, etc.)
- Celebrating your success! Whether you made a profit or not, it's time to look back and see how far you have all come and to celebrate your team

Continuing your Business
If you plan on continuing your company after JA, your team is still required to complete the liquidation process and closing of the business as per the JA Company Program requirements.
Once you have completed these requirements and have submitted your final shareholders' report, you can then determine as a team which members will continue on. All members who choose not to continue must understand that by doing so they are relinquishing their part in the company. You will need to have this clearly indicated and in writing – who will and will not continue with the company – and have all members sign off on it.
After that, your company’s affiliation with JA will come to an end and it will be up to the remaining members to determine the next steps for establishing your business.
If you are using Shopify, you may be able to keep your site.
