I grew up as many local kids in my generation and generations before me LOVING baseball and all it was and meant. Initially inspired in 1975 by the Gold Dust twins Jim Rice and Fred Lynn, the other youngsters Charlton Fisk and Dwight Evans and the veterans Yaz, Rico and El Tiant! That World Series run made me a fan AND then a historian of the game (a baseball fan must). I learned about Teddy Ballgame Williams in 46 and The Impossible Dream of 67. After 75, I endured 78 Bucky Bleeping Dent, 86 Billy Buckner (all is forgiven), 87-2002, 2003 (I was in the Bronx for game 7… why??!!) until the tears finally and literally flowed in 2004! If you are my age or OLDER you know exactly what I am talking about.
Why would an estate planning attorney write about baseball legends passing away and his nostalgic love of the game? You guessed it! Even our immortal legends are mortal after all and if they are mortal then surely their fans are as well. Whether you are in the 6th inning or the 9th inning, you need to plan for the end of the game (better yet, play for a tie and extra innings but know that even though neither baseball or life has an exact time limit, the game always ends).
