From the Minister

Dear Friends,

In a few days, Palm Sunday will remind us once again just how quickly things can change in life. For instance, one day you appear triumphant and you’re riding high on top of the world! And the next day… you’re out.

Can you relate?

Our brother, Jesus, experienced this as shouts of “Blessed is he!” quickly shifted to “Crucify him!” in a matter of days.

In his classic book, The Week That Changed The World, Dr. Ernest C. Wilson wrote, “It is given to only a few men to change the course of history. It was given to one man—Jesus Christ—to change the world. And of all the days of His short span of life, it was the last week, perhaps, that changed it most of all—the seven days (from His final entry into the city of Jerusalem) by which the die was cast. A week that changed the world.”

This “week that changed the world”—meaning the week preceding Easter—is called Holy Week.

And so, my question for you is this: Are you feeling Holy?

I don’t know about you, but when I take in some of our current issues leading into Holy Week (e.g. two horrific mass shootings, a voter suppression agenda, the Coronavirus death toll in the United States approaching 550,000), I am ready for a heavy dose of something Good to change the world!

And for this, I look to the Master Teacher for inspiration.

After all, it was Jesus’ “wrongdoings” that sent the political and religious powers into a consciousness of fear that ultimately led to his arrest and crucifixion.

Jesus was a catalyst. He is the great example as our WayShower, not the exception. And let us not forget one of his greatest teachings “…the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these.”

Now, admittedly, most of us wish he hadn’t said that! But according to the Scriptures, he did. And this means, my dear ones, we’ve got greater works to do to make right the wrongdoings.

There is much for which to be hopeful. We are the ones.

In Love and Unity,
Rev. Anne Tabor

Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter. We acknowledge this day because it reminds us why this was the beginning of the week that changed the world! As the crowds gathered to celebrate Jesus’ epic ride into the city of Jerusalem, they had great expectations. And he took it all in. As they shouted, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,” Jesus understood something bigger was unfolding. He knew he was there to fulfill his Divine purpose. Join Rev. Anne as we explore how to take the necessary spiritual journeys in life that lead to our own awakening and transformation!

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. It is a time to remember that no matter how spiritual we believe ourselves to be, we don’t solve our problems by denying their existence. Instead, we evoke our God-given abilities to resolve them—AND—remain open to the blessings that come with finding a solution. Our Master Teacher could have resisted the cross, but he chose to face it and go beyond. In other words, it is the crucifixion that leads to the power of the resurrection! Join Rev. Anne as she shares how to say “yes” to your own resurrection experience.

FOR THE COMMON GOOD
CDC recommends getting vaccinated as soon as vaccine is available to you.
HAVE YOU HEARD OF HERD IMMUNITY?
What Does It Mean?
Source: https://bit.ly/3rZnHu4
Um, no, not that kind of herd.

Herd immunity (or community immunity) occurs as a population becomes immune to a disease. By way of either a vaccine or exposure, as the percentage of immune people increases, the likelihood of a contagious person encountering and infecting a non-immune person decreases. At a certain point, the infection’s likelihood of spreading is so low, the population is considered “herd immune.”

It’s difficult to be patient in the midst of a global pandemic. While scientists work around the clock to find a solution for COVID-19, the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing, handwashing, wearing masks and other recommended practices continue to be our best bet for slowing the spread. You aren’t alone.

Reverend Anne Tabor, M.Div., is available by appointment for spiritual counseling sessions at Unity of Arlington in a safe and supportive environment. As an ordained Unity minister, Rev. Anne, offers spiritual counseling to individuals seeking a deeper under-standing of themselves and their divine power within to solve life's challenges. Spiritual counseling can help if there is a need for inspiration, crisis support, or healing in any area of your life. Prayer and meditation are an integral part of Unity's spiritual principles, and an essential practice in realizing the answers we seek. We believe in the transformative power of affirmative prayer. You are a unique expression of God. Spiritual counseling will remind you of that!

Spiritual counseling is offered on a love offering basis. While no specific fee is expected or suggested, we do invite each person to leave a love offering. For more details, please call the church office 817-467-5151.

UNITY'S FIVE BASIC PRINCIPLES

Principle #1:
There is only one Presence and one Power in the Universe and in my life, God the Good.

Principle #2:
Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within.
Their essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

Principle #3:
Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking.
Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

Principle #4:
Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.

Principle #5:
Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough.
A person must live the truth he or she knows.
CORE VALUES
Spirit-Led:
Centered in the awareness of God's presence, we turn within for divine guidance in
all we do.

Love:
Love is our True Nature. We express the harmonizing power of love to see good everywhere and in everybody. Love binds together the whole human family.

Diversity:
We believe that all people are created with sacred worth. In a spirit of Unity, we embrace each person as an expression of God grounded in truth and love.

Connection:
We live, love, and laugh from our Oneness with God. We honor our inter-connectedness with each other, with all life, and the earth.

Abundance:
God is our Infinite Source of Good. We gratefully demonstrate prosperity in all areas
of our lives. We wisely use our wealth of resources to serve our spiritual community and the world.

Service:
We cultivate enlightened leadership by practicing the teachings of Jesus the Christ through sacred service. It is a blessing to serve locally and globally.

Integrity:
We consciously choose to practice living our Core Values and Unity Principles rather than simply professing them. We choose to communicate from the heart with authenticity and deliver on our commitments with reliability.
