Dear Residents -

I am excited to announce that Orangetown has partnered with GOGov, a mobile app that helps connect governments with their citizens. It is just another tool to help us keep you informed with such information as weather advisories, road and traffic closures, and emergency alerts. The app is free and available for download in the Google Play Store or the Apple Store. However, while it is already available for download, be advised that it is still a work in progress and ask for patience as we continue to work on it.

We are still in need of sponsors for our Hunger's 5K Heroes race on Saturday, May 14th. Please let my staff know by Monday, May 2nd, if you are interested so that we can get your name on the commemorative t-shirt that will be given to all of the participants. And, if you want to be guaranteed the right size t-shirt, you’ll need to register for the “race” by May 2nd. It starts at Depot Square in Sparkill and is open to walkers, runners and everything in between. So, come join the fun, get some exercise, grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant, and help stock our local food pantries all at the same time!

I want to thank all of you who attended the Comprehensive Plan workshop last night. Over 70 residents from all over Orangetown participated. Hearing from the residents is so vital to the process. But, if you missed it, there will be additional opportunities to comment at the public hearings on the final draft of the plan.

We are promised a dry weekend to enjoy the outdoors. There will be lots of sports, so get out and cheer on your favorite team, make use of the pier or rail trail and, at the end of the day, grab a bite to eat at one of our local restaurants that provides outdoor dining. Orangetown has so much to offer that you never need to leave it to enjoy yourself!

Have a good weekend.

Regards,
Teresa M. Kenny
