Marquette, Four of Its Partner Schools Earn "A" Grades in Latest IDOE Accountability Assessments
The Indiana Department of Education's Office of Accountability released its 2020 State School & Corporation Results and when it comes to local high schools, there really is only one "A" in Michigan City.

For the second consecutive year - and the third time in four years - Marquette High School earned an A grade from the state's governing educational organization.

"I'm thankful that our students and teachers have been recognized for their commitment to high-achieving academics. This is a distinction we don't take for granted, and all of us will continue to work tirelessly to deliver a first-class education rooted in Catholic values," principal Casey Martin said.

A remarkable 70.2% of Marquette graduates depart with an honors diploma compared to the state average of 40.3%. 86% of the school's educators possess a master's degree or higher, including English instructor Chelsea Wagenaar, who holds a doctorate.

Notre Dame Catholic School in Michigan City was one of Marquette's parochial schools also awarded an A, joining Nativity of Our Savior (Portage), Saint Patrick School (Chesterton), and Saint Paul Catholic School (Valparaiso). All four posted A grades in 2019 as well.
