"August: Osage County"
presented by The Potomac Playmakers
February 25-27 & Mar 4-6, 2022
Fridays and Saturday @ 8:00 pm; Sundays @ 3:00 pm
Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center
17303 W Washington St, Hagerstown, MD 21740-5155, United States
(240) 513-6260
Join The Potomac Playmakers for our 3rd mainstage production "August: Osage County" by Tracy Letts. Winner of a Pulitzer Prize and Tony award in 2008, this is a drama about a dysfunctional family: a vanished father, a pill-popping mother, and three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a major play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.
This production is presented with permission from Dramatists Play Service.
This show has adult themes, language, and depicts dark themes that are not appropriate for all ages. Viewer Discretion is advised.
*Masks must be worn at all times for this performance regardless of vaccination status*

Free to attend
The Allegany Arts Council and the Arts & Entertainment District of Cumberland are pleased to announce Making Our Case for Public Art, a special evening with February exhibiting artist, Erwin Timmers, exploring how public art transforms communities.
For years, public art was reserved for those cities with deep pockets and rich history, but today that is changing. Public art has become a vital component of a community's sense of place and of self, not just for the aesthetic beauty of public art projects, but also the deep economic impact their existence can have on communities, both in drawing visitors, and in bringing dollars to places which have become forgotten or underutilized. Today, cities recognize that investments in public art don't just beautify spaces, they activate them.
If you are an artist interested in learning more about how to access public art bids, a community resident seeking to understand the role of public art, or want to know more about how public art can add economic value to communities, we invite you to join us.
| |
Meet Erwin Timmers
Timmers is Co-founder and Director of the Washington Glass School and one of the DC area’s leading ‘eco-artists’. His work in sustainable design can be seen in some of the large public art projects he has completed, including an award winning project for the EPA headquarters in Washington, DC, and the public artwork for the LEED certified Safeway supermarket in Bethesda, MD.

The Lettermen
| |
Friday, March 4, 2022 at 7:00 PM
For more than 50 years, The Lettermen-- Donovan Tea, Bobby Poynton, and Rob Gulack, each of whom are entertainers in their own right—have kept the meaning of harmony alive with their soft, romantic, harmonic blend of music which is as popular with their fans today as it was in 1961 when they recorded their first hit, “The Way You Look Tonight”. Though musical tastes have changed over the years, The Lettermen legacy continues. Harmony will always endure the true test of time—just as The Lettermen have stood the test of time.

The Maryland Theatre hosts
Travis Tritt
Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 7:30 PM
Nearly 30 years after Travis Tritt launched his music career, the Southern rock-influenced artist continues to sell-out shows and stay true and relevant to country music fans across the globe. Continuously performing shows and withholding a heavy appearance schedule, Tritt is proving to be unstoppable. At the same time, his conspicuous lack of a cowboy hat and musical assertiveness set him apart.
