Dear Normandale Families,

Fall Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, November 8 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Teachers also have additional times scheduled outside of school hours for families who are unable to attend conferences on November 8. Music, Art, Phy Ed and Media teachers will be open for drop-ins from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on November 8th.

Sign ups for conferences will be emailed to parents on Monday, October 24 at 9:00am. Please contact the Normandale office at 952-848-4100 if you do not receive your student’s conference sign up or have questions.

LA BELLE SOIRÉE & COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

We have received close to 30 submissions for Community Connections so far and they all look like they will be so much fun! Community Connections events are open to ALL Normandale and Extended French families, whether or not you are attending La Belle Soirée. Check out our preview of Community Connections.

Community Connections Preview

We are still missing events for some grades for both kids and parents. Last year we had around 70 events, let's see if we can have even more this year!!

Here are the groups we don't have a party specifically for:

  • Kindergarten boys
  • First grade girls
  • First grade boys
  • Fourth grade girls
  • Fourth grade boys
  • Fourth grade parents
  • Fifth grade boys
  • Fifth grade girls

If you think that you might be able to pull together an event, you can submit your event here. It would be great to have at least 4 events for each group in each grade, so don't hold back! Ideas for Community Connections can be found on this page. Consider hosting a CC with multiple hosts to split the costs associated with the party! Thanks for considering and if you have any questions please reach out to Berit Allar ([email protected]).

Each year, our community tries to raise funds to send interested teachers to the gala. To cover those costs, we’ve added a donation form in the Normandale Membership Toolkit. No amount is too small. Merci Beaucoup!

We need many volunteers to make this wonderful event possible. If you are interested in being a part of our silent auction, live auction, or community connections teams, offering day-of support, or have other skills to lend, please email [email protected]. Visit the Normandale PTO website to learn more about La Belle Soirée!

  • We need additional co-chairs for La Kermesse (carnival) on May 13.
  • We need additional co-chairs for Field Day on June 1.

There are many other roles to fill as well. Parents, we need you to volunteer!

MEET THE INTERN

SLIMANE IDIR - KINDERGARTEN

ABOUT ME: I'm from Saint-Chamond, a little city in the middle of France. I come from a family of 5, with a little brother and sister. I am passionate about popular culture and its impact on the collective imagination (books, movies, art, music, video games). I like to learn about me and people with classics of philosophy.

IN THE US: In the US, I want to understand the American culture, deconstruct the preconceptions about it. I want to do whatever I can't do in my country and build a great network of people for my future.

MY FAVORITE FOOD:  I guess pizza is the ultimate food. It's the perfect match between carbohydrate, protein and lipid, it can be shared with everybody, be eaten anytime of a day, with a multitude of tastes.

I AM EXCITED ABOUT: I am excited about being lost in my thoughts among the wonderful landscapes and meeting a lot of people to construct something important to me
