Donation to Chesterfield Food Bank
Our Junior Board sold FCR face masks to travel team players in the fall not only to keep our teams safe (and looking great) but to help raise money for the Chesterfield Food Bank. To date, they have raised $800 for the food bank! We still have face masks available for $10. For more info, email lynne@fcrichmond.com
Thanks to all of the players and families who helped make this donation possible.

Recognizing 50 Years of Commitment
The United Soccer Coaches organization (formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America) was founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, Mo. United Soccer Coaches has grown into the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization that serves members at every level of the game. United Soccer Coaches works every day to inspire coaches, and ignite their passion for the game so they pass it on to players and others in the soccer community.
FC Richmond founder and mentor, Dave Amsler, has been a member of the organization for 50 years, and just received his pin and honor recognizing his unprecedented commitment to the United Soccer Coaches. Dave joined when the United Soccer Coaches was known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in the fall of 1971. His first convention was the following year in New York City
2021 State ODP Players
Congratulations to the following FC Richmond players who have been selected for the State ODP pool.
COVID Protocols
Travel teams are back on the pitch for winter training and we would like to remind players and families of the following protocols:
  • Players/families must notify Trip Dunville if anyone has tested positive, or been exposed to someone who has tested positive within the last 14 days. We were fortunate never to have to shut down an entire team in the fall and we would like to continue that trend through the winter. Trip Dunville: 804-647-9549 or tripdunville@fcrichmond.com
  • Players must wear masks as they walk to and from the fields. Players often walk close together in large groups as they make their way to/from fields so masks are absolutely necessary.
  • We do not encourage carpooling at this time but, if carpooling is necessary, all members of the carpool, including the driver, must have masks on at all times in the car.

  2. Ian Stowe: '05 Boys Premiership/Championship going to the Vildberg Cup
  3. Forsan Radwan: '04 CCL Boys Premiership going to the Gothia Cup in Sweden

"Beyond the Game" Player of the Month
Evan Martin is a current member of the U17 Magic Elite team and has been a long time member of the FC Richmond community. Recently, Evan Martin went to Roanoke where he volunteered at the Roanoke Rescue Mission with his church. On the mission trip he helped out at a camp for homeless children where he played games with them, helped out at their homeless shelter, as well as helped make food and serve it to them. Evan said, “Working with the kids was extremely humbling. They were all very kind and we were able to bond with them on a special level in our week while we were there.” He said he was disappointed not to be able to go this year because of COVID, but still wanted to help make a difference in the community. This past December Evan and his family donated over 96 pounds to the Richmond Food Bank to help those in need. Evan Martin went “Beyond the Game” by going out of his way to help others as well as inspiring others to make a difference in the community!

Winter Training and Cold Weather Layering
Many of our travel team players are back on the field for winter training. Remember these tips when dressing for outdoor training:
  • Dress in layers! See graphic from USYS that outlines proper layering.
  • If it is wet, bring extra socks so players can change into dry socks to keep feet and legs warm.
  • Stay hydrated! Cold weather often reduces the ability to recognize dehydration.
  • Players should wear only FC Richmond outer layers – training jacket/rain jacket should be the outer most layer if possible. If sweatshirts must be worn, they should be an FC Richmond sweatshirt.
  • Players may wear athletic gloves and hats.
  • For games: players must have WHITE “under armor” under jerseys. No leggings or tights are allowed.
