NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS
Friday Happy Hour This Week, 8/20, 4 pm
This is Happy Hour week!  We're having No-host Happy Hour again this Friday, August 20, 4 pm at the Ramada.  Bring your own drinks, an appetizer to share (if you want to), and your own tableware.  Next Happy Hour will be in  couple of weeks.  Hope you can join in!
Leaky Trash Bins
Residents are asked to please use garbage can liner bags in your trash receptacles. There have been some recent incidents where a failure to do so has resulted in garbage dropping in the streets during pickup causing extra work by the pick up men and invariably leaving some residue on the street. Please help us out on this to keep our neighborhood as clean as possible.
Name Tags
Lesley Holt has volunteered to take over the Esperanza Estates name badge program from Melodye Cooke. Order forms for the badges can be obtained on the bulletin board at the Ramada or directly from Lesley. Her phone is 520-339-3547, address 851 Napa. Many thanks to Melodye for managing this program for many years.  And, thanks to Lesley for taking over this important task. Our social calendar will be becoming more active in the future and you will want one of these name tags to identify yourself and your street. Order yours today!
Food Collection Halted from Aug 10 to Sept 10
From Sandy LaVoi
The LaVoi's will not be doing food collection at the Ramada from August 10th to September 10th.  Please don't drop off foods for the food shelf during this period.  If someone wants to check the box a couple times a week and take the food to the Sauharita Food Bank, or just get it out of the heat, we can pick it up when we get back. Thanks.
MMM Schedule
Just a reminder, the MMM will be published every other week until September 13. Next issue will be August 30.
CARING CONNECTIONS
Caring Connections is a way for residents to share information with EE neighbors about situations needed, someone who may be experiencing a health crisis or could use some neighborly assistance, and other messages for our neighbors.  If you have a message, please call Judy Hayes, 720-201-9260, or email jkhayes70@gmail.com.
GOOD TO KNOW
It's Raining Big Dogs at PACC
Source: Pima Animal Care Center, Aug 13, 2021
With our monsoon stoms this summer, the Pima Animal Care Center is seeing many lost pets.  Monica Dangler, Director of Animal Services, commented "We are seeing many lost pets because of these storms. The active monsoon is spooking pets into running away."

Stray pets make up most of PACC's current intake of 80-100 pets every day. The best way to help the shelter is by hanging onto the stray pets that show up in your neighborhood through the "First 48" program. People can reunite found pets with their families by hanging onto those friendly stray pets that they find roaming in their neighborhood for at least 48 hours. Pets that stay in the area where they are found also have an 80 percent chance of making it home versus the 20 percent when they are brought to the shelter. If you need food or other pet supplies to do this, please just stop by the shelter Monday through Friday noon to 7 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. How to reunite a pet within 48 hours:
  • Text "FOUND" to (833) 552-0591.
  • Upload a photo of the found pet to PetcoLoveLost.com. They will use facial recognition to match up lost and found reports.
  • Post the pet on social media sites like Facebook, Nextdoor and Pawboost.
  • More lost and found tips can be found on the lost and found site.
"If people could look for an owner and hang onto these strays for a couple of days, that would give them a huge chance of finding their owners," Dangler said. "These pets most likely have families that are missing them immensely. Knock on a few doors and you might have that pet home within an hour!"

For more information and for suggestions for avoiding losing your pet, check this link at PACC.

Thanks for sharing, Craig Surprise!
