On Friday, May 5th, some of our FVSD middle school students had the opportunity to learn about automotive careers with a visit to Hyundai North America Headquarters in Fountain Valley. Workshops included: marketing, social media, product planning, digital planning, finance, public relations, legal, human resources, service quality, and engineering.

The 2nd annual FVSD Middle School Chess Tournament took place at Fulton on Saturday, May 6th. Congratulations to the bronze, silver, and gold winners in three divisions: beginning, intermediate, and advanced.

Some of our FVSD Middle School students spent Saturday on the Pickleball courts. Teams from all three FVSD middle schools competed in the first tournament. Thanks to middle school principals and activities directors for coordinating this inaugural FVSD event!

Our FVSD Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year were treated to a night at Angel's Stadium, where they were honored by School's First Federal Credit Union. Way to go Staci & Annie, making FVSD proud!

In recognition of National Fentanyl Awareness Day on May 9, OCDE is teaming up with the Orange County Health Care Agency to host a pair of no-cost workshops that will cover the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills and share prevention resources.

The sessions — one will be held at 4 p.m., followed by another at 6 p.m. — will be held in partnership with the HCA’s Mental Health and Recovery Services at OCDE’s Conference Center, located in Building D at 200 Kalmus Drive in Costa Mesa. The HCA also plans to distribute kits containing Narcan, an emergency life-saving medication that can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid poisoning, to trained participants.

Orchestra and band students across the FVSD will perform at the Monster Concert. Join us on Tuesday, May 16th, at 5:00 pm for Band and 7:00 pm for Orchestra as 3rd through 12th grade students come together for this annual event.

Fountain Valley School District invites fifth-grade students and their families to attend the Middle School Orientation on Wednesday, May 24th, from 5:30-6:30 pm at your assigned middle school. Please join us to meet your principal and staff and hear more about your middle school campus and programs. We are excited to welcome all of our fifth graders and their families as we look forward to a tremendous sixth-grade year!
