Informed Parents Make Great Partners

Lucky to Have This ARPS Community!

Here at Aspen Ridge, we are the LUCKIEST to have a team of passionate teachers and staff members; a community of actively involved parents; an engaged and dedicated Board; and a building full of thriving Owls, who are the "why" behind what we all do.

We'd love to send a big thank you to the many families who participated in the Kids Heart Challenge last month! We exceeded our goal and raised $14,665 for the American Heart Association - and even more importantly, many of our families learned the life-saving skill of hands-only CPR. All students who raised $100 or more will soon be silly stringing Mr. Zuppas, and all students who raised $150 or more will also be silly stringing...MS. MILLER! Stay tuned for details on when and where the fun will happen!

We have lots to share in this March newsletter. Thank you for taking the time to read through and stay up to date on all that's happening at ARPS!

Aspen Ridge is Ready to Read!

Book Fair is coming to ARPS next Tuesday through Friday! It's a chance for students to explore new titles and discover the stories that speak to them. Plus, it raises funds to fill the shelves of our library with best-loved books and popular new reads. Can you help with Book Fair? Sign up here!

It's time once again for the Aspen Ridge March Madness Reading Challenge! Beginning Monday, March 6th, students and staff will read, read, and read some more to advance as far as they can in the March Madness Reading Challenge bracket! May the best (and most book-loving) class win!

Details will be coming from your child's teacher shortly.

A Whole Lot is Happening on March 10th!

There are still slots available for our Children's Hospital Spring Blood Drive next Friday, March 10th! Join us in supporting sick and injured kids who rely on blood transfusions for a chance at a healthy, full life. The mobile blood drive will take place right here in the Aspen Ridge parking lot. It couldn't be easier to make a life-saving difference! Sign up today!

Bring the whole family for a cozy Movie Night in the gym on Friday, March 10th! Lay out pillows and blankets, buy some concessions and cotton candy from NJHS students, and join your ARPS friends to watch Ferdinand.

This is also the final night to stock up on books at the Book Fair. No need to RSVP. We'll see you there!

Want to kick off your weekend with an inspiring event? Head to Old Town Erie for the Hope & Gratitude Project on Friday, March 10th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Students and staff from Aspen Ridge - and several other Erie schools - are creating luminaries to light up the night with their hopes for the year ahead. Plus, several restaurants in Old Town are donating proceeds from the night to all participating schools, divided evenly. So you can stroll through the luminaries and dine out to donate, as well! Sign up here to help set up the luminaries!

Next PTO Meeting:

Wednesday, March 8th, 6:00pm

All are welcome and encouraged to attend in person or via Zoom!

Let's Get Psyched for Spirit Week!

A Note from Our Principal

Hello, Owl Families!

It's hard to believe that March is here, spring is approaching, and we are about to enter the fourth quarter! In the weeks leading up to Spring Break, our Owls will show their "madness" for reading, practice the mindset of Live to Give, demonstrate hope and gratitude, and continue to SOAR academically, socially, and emotionally.

Speaking of SOARing, I wanted to take a moment to remind our families of the cell phone policy that is listed in our Parent & Student Handbook.

Students are permitted to bring their cell phones to school, as long as they remain turned off and out of sight while on campus. If a student needs a phone while on campus, they may use the phone located in the classroom or the main office. Cell phones are not permitted to be used on campus. Use of cellular service to access the internet or bypass the content filters is prohibited. Students at ARPS are not permitted to bring any electronic devices to school without written permission from a teacher or administrator.

The consequences of noncompliance of electronic devices and cell phones are listed in the Parent & Student Handbook.

While cell phones have become a necessary part of our daily lives, they are not a necessary part of student life at school. Here is a great article that illustrates the importance of establishing phone-free classrooms. Thank you for supporting us in this effort by reminding your children that their phones are to remain off and out of sight throughout the school day.

As the weeks become busier and the weather warms up (hopefully), we look forward to Spring Break, a time to rest, rejuvenate, have some fun, and come back ready to finish the year strong! The month of March is known for bringing luck, but we're lucky all year long to be part of a community that comes together to provide our students with the skills and confidence to succeed in the classroom and in our community every day.

Warmly,

Rachel Miller

Principal

Congrats to Our Co-Owls of the Month!

Ms. Rebecca Wild

Ms. Wild has been a teacher at Aspen Ridge for seven years. She constantly thinks of ways to brighten her students' and co-workers' days. Her thoughtfulness and interest in others make everyone around her feel seen and valued. She approaches every situation with a smile and a positive, problem-solving attitude. Ms. Wild's organization and attention to detail make her a reliable and valuable resource for her colleagues, students, and their families. Ms. Wild always goes above and beyond to support our students and is a valued member of the Aspen Ridge community.

Ms. Kayla Reynolds

Ms. Reynolds joined the ARPS team during the end of the 2021-22 school year. She quickly became an asset to the school's operations with her prior management experience, bringing a level of professionalism, knowledge, grace, and grit to the Business Manager position. Ms. Reynolds' ongoing curiosity in the position supports both our finance and human resource departments, ensuring that we are meeting the needs of our individual employees and families. Ms. Reynolds provides A+ customer service to all Aspen Ridge stakeholders with her daily smile and her problem solving skills.

This Month in Photos: Owls in Action

Our 8th graders put their research and hard work on display during our National History Day presentations. Congratulations and good luck to the students who are moving on to the next round of competition at the National History Day Regionals tomorrow, March 4th!

What could be more fun than baby chicks in our PreK 4s classroom? It's the perfect way to encourage spring to hurry up and join us!

Are they 5th graders or 100 year olds? It was hard to tell as we celebrated our 100th day of school in spectacular senior style!

Our first annual Aspen Ridge Skate Night was a great success!

We were all glad to have a cozy fire to gather around on this night of freezing family fun!

Buddy time is the best! It's a chance for our younger Owls to connect with our older Owls for creativity, learning, and fun!

These kinder students had big smiles as they worked together at their Math Center during Flex Time!

Ms. S represented ARPS well as a presenter at the Colorado League of Charter Schools Annual Conference. Go, Ms. S!

Everybody loves a good field trip! These first graders had a ball exploring the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

We Love Our ARPS Sponsors!

We have the best sponsors around, and we hope you'll show them some love when you're in need of a local service. Thank you, ARPS Sponsors!
