Friends of the Gateway Region, this spring has reminded us how collaboration is key to uniting our region for economic prosperity.
In mid-April, I had the pleasure of meeting Governor Youngkin at the Team Virginia Consultant Symposium Reception in the state's capital. Team Virginia is a program designed for the nation’s top consultants to meet with key business leaders and each of the Commonwealth’s economic development regions. It is spearheaded by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with our state colleagues at VEDP.
VGR just hosted its second Business Council event of 2022, which was held at the Dinwiddie County Airport on May 4 for a networking “Meet-and-Greet" with the region’s business leaders, as well as both local- and state-elected officials. In addition to networking, everyone took a tour of the airport and learned about how this tremendous economic and industrial asset in our region can be utilized.
Also in May, we are approaching Economic Development Week in Virginia. Its purpose is to celebrate the positive contributions that economic development makes to localities and regions across the Commonwealth.
Last but not least, I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone in-person for VGR’s 2022 Annual Meeting on May 18 at the Petersburg Public Library. Please join us for: “The State of Virginia's Gateway Region”.
