Westside Welcome This Wednesday, February 24
From Katie Liddle
In an effort to help folks get to know their next door neighbors, I am coordinating a Westside outdoor social event for folks on Circulo del Sur, Calle Excelso, and Circulo del Norte, and folks living on the west side of Holgado. It will be Westside Welcome Wednesday on the last Wednesday of the month, Feb 24th, at Pizza Oven Park at 12:30 pm. Please bring your own lunch and folding chair. Covid protocol will be observed. With enough interest, we could make this a monthly event. If you are interested in helping coordinate, please call Katie Liddle, 520-222-7216. |
Book Club
The next EE Book Club meeting will be Thursday, March 11, at 10 am at the Ramada. The book to read for March is Bel Canto, by Ann Patchett, discussion leader Karen O'Brien.

Tom Palacios
We are sorry to report that Tom Palacios, Napa, passed away on February 13 after an ongoing illness. Tom and his wife, Val, have been coming to Green Valley from Washington every year for over 20 years. About 5 years ago they became full time residents. There are no services planned at this time. Our sincere condolences to Val and their family and friends.
Caring Connections is a way to share information about EE neighbors who may be experiencing a health crisis or could use some neighborly assistance. With the isolation of Covid, we often don't know what's happening right next door. Our neighbors want to know, so they can help one another. If you know of a situation, please call Judy Hayes, 720-201-9260, or email jkhayes70@gmail.com.

aka Mesquite Tree
We are deeply saddened to announce the end of life for our beloved Mesquite tree at the corner of Portillo and Ensalmo. The adored Mesquite has provided EE residents with abundant shade, glorious ambiance, blossoms for bees, a haven for migrating birds and savory pods for our resident wildlife all summer long.
During the last few decades, it has flourished, stretched and ignored the civilized boundaries of our community and wreaked havoc upon nearby homes, roof tops, walls, sewer pipes, patios and sidewalks.
Despite serious annual pruning this glorious tree has not held back it's roots or branches and has continued to be non-compliant. The difficult decision was recently made to remove the tree. While this memorable landmark will be sorely missed, the area will be thoughtfully re-landscaped and precious parts of her limbs and trunk will be recycled and reconfigured by some of our creative EE woodworkers.
