A Message from the Associate Dean
As you may recall from past newsletters, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has been developing a new proposal preparation and submission tool via Research.gov for several years. NSF reiterated in an official announcement this week that their targeted depreciation date for Fastlane is January 2023. This announcement, which also includes updates on recently implemented Research.gov functionality and enhancements to the NSF Public Access Repository, can be found on Research.gov. If you haven’t yet learned how to prepare and submit an NSF proposal via Research.gov, your next submission would be a great place to start! Please feel free to reach out to Chad Morris if you need assistance in learning how to use the new system.

Supporting STAR Students

Twenty-three engineering students are slated to participate in the STAR Scholars Program for Summer 2022 and are currently looking for faculty mentors to guide their summer projects. The high-level goal of the student/mentor relationship is that the student participates in a substantial, full-time research, scholarly, or creative project and that the faculty mentor gains useful assistance from their STAR Scholar in advancing their own research or creative agenda/practice. If you are interested in mentoring a STAR Scholar, you should post any available/existing research or creative projects or positions on ForagerOne and/or share your availability as a mentor with UREP staff by emailing them at urep@drexel.edu. If you have ideas for projects but are not sure if the project is appropriate for a STAR Scholar, or if there are students in the program with relevant/aligned interests, please reach out to UREP for more information.

Congratulations to the Class of 2022

Recognize the achievements of our graduating students by posting a photo and message of congratulations on our commencement website.

In accordance with Important Notice No. 147, many National Science Foundation (NSF) program solicitations now require the use of Research.gov for the preparation and submission of proposals. Please be advised that NSF will now start requiring the use of Research.gov for the preparation and submission of proposals in response to program descriptions. As a reminder, FastLane is targeted to be removed as a submission option from all funding opportunities when the Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) goes into effect in January 2023. Grants.gov will remain a submission option for most NSF proposals.
