Zooming with Jesus
faces on a screen
talking with Jesus

from living rooms
bedrooms kitchens
and such

in pjs and blue jeans
flannels and sweats

with a cuppa to hand
and a half shaved delight.

and Jesus talks back
in the bible old words

that translate to wisdom
when replied to unfurled.

when two or three gather
there’s a presence they say

and the buildings don’t matter
while his people say pray

what touches their hearts
when his spirit is heard

coming out of those boxes
in everyone’s words.

Morning Prayer live via Zoom on Sunday, January 16th
Dear Beloved,

As you know, Covid numbers in Hennepin County have risen at a dramatic pace, putting medical providers and other systems under enormous strain. Because of this, we will continue to worship via Zoom on Sunday mornings throughout the month of January. We will take stock later in the month to make decisions for February and moving forward.

We continue to believe that walking in love means erring on the side of caution.

We also know how important it is to connect with God and one another through worship, prayer, music, and fellowship. So, we hope you will join in!

Details:
Live, Zoom Morning Prayer, 9:30 AM. Zoom Link here (Worship will later be uploaded to YouTube).Join in as early as 9:15 and stay for "coffee hour" afterwards as you like!

This Sunday we'll mark Martin Luther King, Jr Day through prayer and music.

Thank you for being the beautiful, faithful people of God at St. David's. See you Sunday.

Love,

The Rev. Katherine Lewis, Rector
Huldah Niles, Sr. Warden
Randy Schwichtenberg, Jr. Warden

Loving God. Loving One Another.
Families Moving Forward Meals—Volunteers Needed
“Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.” Luke

The week of February 7-11, St. David’s will be providing meals for families in transition who are seeking permanent housing. Our parish has hosted Families Moving Forward for 25+ years but due to the pandemic, families are staying in a hotel. Instead of hosting at St. David’s, we will deliver food and precooked meals to the hotel.

Volunteers are needed to:
· Purchase and deliver a list of groceries to the day center in Chaska on
February 7 between 8:30am and 2:30 pm
· Deliver prepackaged dinners to the hotel in Chanhassen, ready to serve at 5PM Monday through Friday, February 7-11.  This is a minimal contact delivery as food will be packaged either individually or as a family meal.  No serving or clean up required. A staff member from Families Moving forward will coordinate food delivery to the families at the hotel.
· We welcome financial contributions for food and meal purchases.

Join Our Virtual Choir!
Even when we’re apart, we can find ways to sing together. For our Zoom liturgies, we’re using technology to combine many voices together into a virtual choir. More singers of all ages are always welcome! We try to keep the music and the recording process as simple as possible, and you can participate in as many or as few songs as you like. Contact Roger Stratton ([email protected]) for more information.

ICA Update
Recap of ICA’s Community Impact in 2021
In 2021, ICA celebrated its 50th anniversary as a community partner. More than ever, its impact was felt within the communities it serves (Hopkins, Minnetonka, Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, Greenwood and Woodland). Here are some key highlights:

1. Over one million pounds of food was distributed to 2492 households and 6401 individuals. Over 10,000 pounds was given to Minnetonka and Hopkins schools.
2. In an effort to remove transportation barriers in the community, ICA made nearly 1400 mobile food deliveries and over 800 home deliveries.
3. The ICA Financial Assistance Program distributed nearly $1.5 million in aid, which helped over 1000 of our neighbors avoid homelessness. An ICA client who received rent assistance wrote: “What a relief your assistance has even to me. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
4. ICA opened its first market and resource center inside Hopkins Gatewood Elementary School. This school-based market not only makes it easier for families to access culturally specific foods, but it is also staffed with ICA case managers to provide referrals for housing, employment support and other community resources.

Thanks to your ongoing support and gifts along with those of so many other community members and partners, ICA is able to live out its mission “to create a healthy and stable community for all.”

In 2022, ICA plans to open additional ICA market and resource centers in local schools. Other 2022 plans include expanding home deliveries and further developing pop-up food distribution events, which brought food to so many in 2021.

Current Food Shelf Needs
This month the food shelf is running low on the following items:
* cereal (hot & cold)
* coffee, tea
* kids’ snacks & beverages
* baby food, baby baby wipes, size 5 diapers, pull-ups
* shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, soap (bar, dish & laundry)
* tissues, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper
* wet & dry cat food

Any items you would like to contribute will be collected through this Sunday, January 16. Please leave them in the ICA baskets at any of the church entrances. As always, any food, personal products, etc. that you would like to contribute are most welcome. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, the need to reach our most vulnerable parishioners has been great. Our 11 person Pastoral Care Team has stepped up to the plate and has been regularly calling around 24 St. David's members and families to share in remote fellowship, prayer, and conversation to determine if we, as a community, could help address any of their unmet needs. We are pleased to report that virtually all of these parishioners are doing well so far and have their basic needs met by their facilities and/or family. They are in good spirits and continue to remain resilient in the face of isolation and uncertainty.

If you find yourself in need of food or other resources, please contact:
Steve Johnson at: [email protected] or (952) 237-0031
or:
The Rev. Katherine Lewis at: [email protected] or (612) 747-5405

and we will assist you in finding solutions.
