A Word from the Archivist
by Percy Preston, Jr.
The collection of portraits of former rectors of St. Bartholomew’s Church was recently enriched by the gift of a portrait of George Paull T. Sargent, rector from 1933 to 1950. The portrait was painted in 1946 and had been in the Sargent family for many years. The picture came to St. Bart’s from John Sargent, a grandson of the rector, whose generosity is greatly appreciated.
In his latest video message Presiding Bishop Michael Curry shares why he got the COVID-19 vaccine. "The #COVIDVaccine saves lives. #igotmine to do my part to live out the Bible’s commandment to 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'”

We have resumed in-person worship at St. Bart’s on Sundays at 9 am, 11 am, at 5 pm, with congregational singing and St. Bartholomew's Choir participating at the 11 am service. Due to the increasing spread of COVID-19 variants, masks are again required at in-person services. Please join us.

”God just gives, to us, to you and me. I mean, look at us! Yikes. God keeps giving, forgiving, and inviting us back.”
Anne Lamott, Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers

The invitation to giving is a spiritual response to a God that keeps on giving to us. Yikes, indeed!

AND MORE
If you are a morning person, we need you! Volunteers are needed to cook a delicious breakfast for our guests, serve the meal in go-to bags, or clean up after. Thanks to an exciting new partnership with Rethink Food, we are transitioning from serving a modest breakfast to offering hot meals on Saturday mornings. Perhaps you've not been up for the "crack of dawn" crews that serve our weekday breakfast? Well, this is a chance to get in the game at a more reasonable hour. The shift runs from 8:30 am to 11:00 am, and we need five volunteers each Saturday. Learn more and volunteer today.

Centering Prayer will be on hiatus from Monday, August 16, resuming on Wednesday, September 8.
Experience a few moments of peace and comfort through the contemplative practice of centering prayer. Newcomers welcome! To join our email list to receive updates on centering prayer, contact Manny Rodriguez-Leach.

St. Bart's Community Preschool is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year. For over 40 years, our preschool has provided a warm, nurturing first school experience.
