Fall 2021
Goat Island is located between Cottonwood Island Nature Park and Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park near the Heritage River Trail and the CN Rail bridge. The Island is only accessible via river kayak or jet boat or when the Fraser and Nechako Rivers have lower river levels in the fall season (you'll often find sandy beaches along the shore!). Learn more about this historic island right in the city.

The Community Recreation E-Newsletter provides you ways to get active and have fun safely this fall. Prince George offers an abundance of natural beauty in all seasons. In this edition, you'll find a variety of indoor and outdoor activities from the City and non-profit organizations to keep your mind and body active.
AQUATICS & ARENAS
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE POOL
The Aquatic Centre is closed for maintenance until Oct 11 but will re-open for lessons, public swimming and club use on Oct 12. However, you can sign up now for swimming lessons for fall and winter.
FUN ON ICE
Come and enjoy indoor ice with Learn-to-Skate programs, Adult Drop-in Hockey, and Public skating this fall.

COME TRY TRAIL WALKING FOR WOMEN
West Bowl Community Association's walking for wellness is back
Are you ready to walk, explore, and meet new friends? Join our low-intensity hikes with other women to various trails throughout PG. This is all about getting out and having some fun. Attendees will get maps, prizes, and a lot of local knowledge!
FALL FUN
What do antiques, babysitting and centerpieces have in common?
The South Bowl Community Association is again offering programs like a babysitting course and its annual centerpiece making night.
Also, come and celebrate their latest additions to Ginter's Field (benches and a light) on September 11, from 9:00am - 11:00 am.

LEARN HOW TO PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
New Horizons & Multigenerational Bands
Alban Classical Music Society is offering several band programs for adults and children of all skill levels and experiences. If you want to pull out that old instrument or have been itching to learn how to play, check out the website.
JOIN NEW DANCER LESSONS AND MAINSTREAM DANCING
Northern Twisters Square Dance Club
Come try modern square dancing. First night is free for everyone. Led by caller, Gys Koops, and helped by experienced dancers. The Club start up is September 13, 7pm, Beginner lessons 7-8, Mainstream dancing with rounds to follow 8-9:30.
JOIN THE FASTEST GAME ON ICE
Ringette for all genders and skill levels; open to ages 5 and up
Ringette is an exciting winter ice sport for ages 5+ and all genders and skill levels! Players use a specially-designed straight stick to pass, carry, and shoot a rubber ring. Teams at each level play September to March for approx. 1-3 times per week on ice or in gym ringette, plus tournaments.

PRINCE GEORGE YOUTH RUGBY
Rugby for boys and girls ages 12-18
The fall rugby program runs 2 days a week where your child can build strong fundamental skills while meeting new friends. The program is designed for youth rugby players who are experienced or new to the game.

The program covers passing and catching, tackling, game strategy, individual skills, and many more!
LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR YOUTH AGES 9-12
Navy League of Canada
The training year starts Sept 13 and ends June, 2022. The Navy League of Canada develops youth in attributes of good citizenship, leadership, and physical fitness and stimulates the interest of youth in the sea activities. Make friends for life!
Branch fee of $100/cadet; any additional family members - $25. Uniform fee - $20.
LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR YOUTH AGES 12-18
Register for Sea Cadets - 158 Grizzly
Develop youth in leadership, seamanship, and team building skills. Cadets participate in many activities including classroom based-learning, band, camping, sports, outdoor training, drills and First Aid.

Open to youth ages 12-18. Parade Thursday nights 6 pm - 9:30 pm.

DO YOU LOVE TO DANCE?
Yalenka Ukrainian Dancers
Yalenka is excited to hold another year of Ukrainian dancing. Dancing is a great cardio workout and you can have fun and learn about a different culture, while doing it. Classes range for 5 years old to adult.

No previous dance experience is required and you don't have to be Ukrainian! They offer low monthly tuition and costumes are provided. Classes start mid-September.
LET'S SING AGAIN
Prince George Cantata Singers
Do you love to sing? This adult-oriented choir is for people ages 17 years and over who enjoy a variety of musical styles. The choir meets 7pm to 9pm on each Wednesday evening from September to December.

The first rehearsal starts on Sep. 8 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, located at 1505 - 5th Ave in downtown Prince George. Auditions are not required.
WEEKLY MUSIC JAMS & GROUP LESSONS
BC Old Time Fiddlers - Prince George Branch
Come and play the fiddle with others. The Fiddlers Club welcomes beginner to advanced players at their weekly jamming and group lessons. They play for seniors’ residences and community events, and host monthly dances and annual Jamborees (when events can occur). It’s a great place to learn, listen, and make new friends.
