Letter from the Board Chair

It is with anticipation and excitement that I announce that our search committee has completed the process to identify our next Executive Director and we are thrilled to welcome Ryan Undercoffer back to the Matt Urban Center team to fill this role later this month.

Through this three month process, our search committee received over 35 applications and met with final candidates who presented on key goals, objectives and what would be their process for tackling them. I am incredibly proud of the entire committee as this was not an easy decision.

I would like to publicly thank Alissa Venturini for serving as our Interim Executive Director for the last several months, she is a huge part of the ongoing success we’ve experienced in the last few years and will continue to be an integral leader at Matt Urban going forward. She will be returning to her role as Chief Program Officer once Undercoffer arrives.

Undercoffer is returning to the Matt Urban Center after time with Catholic Charities of Buffalo, where he served as Senior Director of Family Enrichment Services. He is also a recognized voice on nonprofit management and community development, authoring a blog that covers these and related topics.

As we transition over the next few months, we will be taking a close look at the agency to evaluate what is working, what we can improve upon and how well we are meeting the needs of our community. As I work closely with Ryan on not only ensuring a seamless onboarding, our focus remains on our mission: to revitalize neighborhoods, serve families and change lives. I look forward to helping support and communicate those key goals and objectives that will be prioritized once he arrives.

With Gratitude and Energy,

Brandon Jones
