ADULT EDUCATION

Thursday Morning Women’s Bible

Starts study on August 24 and will be using the book “Navigating Gospel Truth”.  It’s a study where we should acquire skills to make us better students of Scripture. We will meet via Zoom at 10:00 a.m. This is another video-based study with eight sessions and seven weeks of homework.

Please email lpope714@gmail.com for a zoom invitation and information about getting the book. (The zoom meeting ID and passcode are - Meeting ID: 829 5779 3075   Passcode: 020079 )

From the back of the book:

“The Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—are four accounts of one extraordinary life. To read each of these accounts well, we must learn how the four biographies of Jesus complement each other—even when, at first glance, they might seem to contradict. In this 8-session Bible study, Rebecca McLaughlin will guide you through the different literary terrain of the Gospels. She’ll teach you to identify and understand the different kinds of writing in these ancient texts, including narrative, parable, prophecy, and more. Through this journey, you’’ll acquire skills to become a better student of Scripture, gain confidence in the truth of the Gospels, and realize a more captivating view of the Savior.”

Wednesday Supper & Study

Date: Wednesday, September 13, 20, 27 and October 3

Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Dinner: 6:00-6:30, Class: 6:30-8:00

Location: Lounge

You recite it. But do you understand it?

The Apostles’ Creed has become so familiar to us that we don’t think about what we’re saying. Christians from different times, places, and traditions have been united by its eternal truths. We believe them, we recite them, but do we build our lives on them?

The fact that so many in the early church died for their faith means they were caught up in something greater than themselves. What were those truths? How did they empower a revolution? How did early church pastors and theologians use the Apostles’ Creed as the essential guide to the basics of the Christian life?

Ben Myers re-introduces that creed. He shows us what about the Christian faith is so counter-cultural, and what truths embedded in the Apostles’ Creed we’ve come to assume, when really, they should amaze us and earn our allegiance unto death. RSVP BY SEPTEMBER 4 TO shellywood@orchardpark.org To reserve your spot and order your book.

Adult Sunday Bible study will start on September 24, 2023 | 11:00 a.m. | North Chapel | Hosted by Tony Kupinski.
