Special Batch from Jyang_Lee Kitchen
Mustard Sauce with Wasabi
Bath Farmers Market July 14 2021
Good Morning,

Hope you are all taking good care in this heat. It's a great day to bring coolers for the car so the lettuce doesn't wilt and the cheese stays firm. Remember Big Barn coffee has caps for sale if your head feels hot.

Many of you have heeded the "Get here early" call and vendors are selling out quickly. So to up the odds of getting what you want:
-Preorder; direct from the vendor, via website or phone . -
-Order from the Online Market, via our website at www.bathfarmersmarket.com
-Visit the vendors' farm stand or home market - just check their website for open times. They often have more of what you want and other goodies too.
-Explore other vendors: we have 5 farmers selling veggies, and they all had gorgeous tomatoes last week; not always the same, but hey, try something new..

If it's really hot tomorrow, some of our vendors may not make it. Health issues, fragile product, tending to the farm, all raise their ugly heads occasionally, It's not easy on dogs either, so consider leaving the pooches at home; bring them a treat! And do bring bottles of water!

See you soon.

Joan

Take Note

Chase Farm will not be at the Market this week; Robin will return on the 21.

Mindful Gardens returns this week.

It's going to be very hot, probably not the best day to bring your dog to the market. Crowds, and noise combined with heat & thirst can leave them not so comfortable. When our Maine summer returns they'll be happier.

Tracy at Pemaquid Lobster & Seafood reminds us to bring plastic bags especially in hot weather, as she can no longer supply them. She'll give you ice tho! A reminder that crab and
halibut are not reliably available right now. Swordfish is looking good for a little while and plenty of salmon.

Ever creative Nanne at Meadowbrook has some new mittens, phone accessible, Smashing colors. Avid knitters, stock up on her glorious yarn and think Holiday gifts in a few months.

Spicy greens from Tarbox brighten any meal - mix into a salad for extra oomph, saute briefly with garlic, olive oil and some coarse salt, let steam in pan off heat. Add cannellini beans and broth with a slice of hearty bread, say Cornmeal Pumpkin Seed from Hootenanny. Lunch!
Enjoy the backstories at Goranson, Gin Fizz - wow.
Hawkes continues to offer a range of garden plants with wide appeal - high drama to old fashioned annuals; they have a robust vegetable garden as well. Don't forget their farm stand in North Bath is open daily.

Mana Medicinals offers it's Ache Away with or without CBD. It's apparently very effective at relieving joint pain, according to friends & family of mine who've tried it. i swear by the Ionic Silver to strengthen my immune system proactively.

Yes those were very fragrant Truffles at Oyster Creek Mushroom. If you love them start a truffle fund now, as Julianne reports they are impossible to predict. Both King and common oysters are looking fine and she has some really nice Shiitakes.

For a light refreshing end to a rustic dinner, pick up one of the small cakes, at Alchimia. Her flowerless ciocolata is popular; the aranciata, or orange flavored. is well flavored and light.

dharma and Goranson Farms have amazing tomato varieties, and they made us little signs so we know what they are: the names are as much fun as these luscious globes. Thank you so much!
Really sweet: put the O in Oyster Creek Mushroom with these beauties.

A nice batch of creamy dreamy Cloud Nine and some aging. 1820, an Asiago like cheese, good for grating or chunked thinly on chewy breads, moving quickly at hahns end.

First Husk cherries are here at dharma farm. Or try them in salad dressed with one of Brads floral vinegars from West Maquoit Vinegar Works. Ripe when they're orange, one of my faves for a sweet summer snack, or with yogurt and granola.
