Following the long standing New England tradition, of recognizing the oldest resident of the town, the Boston Cane was presented to Herbert Linwood Stiles II, by the Sunapee Board of Selectmen. Family and friends gathered round to celebrate with the honoree. Don’t be surprised if you see Herb, whose vigor belies his 97 years, walking to the Post Office, Boston Cane in hand.

Mr. Stiles posed with his commemorative replica of the Town’s Boston Cane for an official photo with Select Board members, Suzanne Gottling, Josh Trow, Carol Wallace & Jeremy Hathorn. The original cane is displayed at Town Hall with the engraved names of recipients from previous years.
