Weekly enews
Dear St. Giles Families,

BRAVO! and KUDOS! to all of our stars who performed in Friday night’s annual PTO Variety Show! We have so many talented Lions and this showcase was a great way to safely enjoy it from home. Again, thank you to Heather Kroll for pulling it all together, Carter Luke for his technical assistance, and all of our parent/sibling directors and videographers who made a great memory for us to enjoy again.

Thank you to all of our families for your patience and understanding as we battled the weather last week. We know it has been hard for our Lions to remain inside during these cold and snowy days and hope this week will bring more sun, warmth, and outdoor recess. Please make sure your child(ren) wear their boots! The snow is going to be with us for a while and we want to keep their feet warm and dry!

The weather this week is predicted to be better temperatures than we have seen recently. We will resume full uniforms on Tuesday, anticipating fresh snow on Monday. Should temperatures or weather warrant, we will adjust accordingly. Fridays will remain spirit wear days for everyone.

Stay warm and well,
Meg
THANK YOU
to our
Empower Illinois Donors!

With the help of many generous donors from our school and parish community, we have received $167,000 in total donations through Empower Illinois for the 2021-2022 school year.

This total donation amount includes $67,000 in direct contributions from donors who took advantage of the Illinois tax credit and $100,000 in 2:1 matching funds offered by several generous donors through the Archdiocese of Chicago.

These funds cover the full tuition of 23 students who could not otherwise afford a St. Giles School education. On behalf of these students and their families, we thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Did you know that adding something positive to your life during Lent, alongside making a sacrifice, can provide a major boost to your mental health? Lent is about sacrifice, confessing any failings, seeking and receiving forgiveness, and making a decision to live healthier. This year let’s add positive reinforcement to our lives. Instead of just giving up sweets, social media, etc., let’s add something positive for Lent that improves your family life, betters yourselves, or helps others. It can be talking to others when you may not feel comfortable or trying to interact with someone new or using polite, kind words even when feeling grumpy. Take a look around the Healthy Catholics Website to find more ideas on how to grow your mental health this Lenten season. The website states “Contrary to popular belief, good mental health does not mean feeling happy all of the time. Of course, happiness is wonderful, and we should all feel happy now and again – it’s just not the cause or effect of good mental health. Instead, good mental health means feeling and thinking in a positive manner more often than not.”
St. Giles Kindergarten Coffee And...

This week, we're hosting four virtual Kindergarten Coffees -- a chance for prospective families to meet our teachers, learn about the curriculum, and hear about how social-emotional lessons are conducted with our littlest Lions. Several current kindergarten parents will be joining as well, to answer any questions and share their experiences. Coffees will be held on Tuesday, February 23 at 9:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. and on Thursday, February 25 at 8:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m.

If you know someone with a rising kindergartener, please think about inviting them to join one of the Coffees to learn more about St. Giles School. Share the registration form found here. If you refer a new family to St. Giles School who registers, is accepted and attends a full year in grades K-8th, you will receive a $500 tuition credit at year's end.
