The National CyberWatch Center has created a private Linkedin group called Diversifying the Cybersecurity Workforce. This group seeks to connect people and develop evidence-based practices for diversifying the workforce. For those who wish to join this collaborative space, please submit a request to join below. Once accepted, we encourage you to introduce yourself and post ideas, examples, experiences, studies, and empirical support for the methods and programs that can diversify the workforce. Additionally, consider inviting any colleagues whom you believe can contribute to the conversation.

Call for Abstracts on Diversifying the Cybersecurity Workforce
Have an idea, thought, or experience you want to share regarding Diversifying the Cybersecurity Workforce? The Cybersecurity Skills Journal invites practitioners, scholars, and educators to explore, propose or report on systematic and rigorous investigations of the contributing causes, mediating or moderating influences, and evidence-based solutions for diversifying the cybersecurity workforce. Submit your proposed manuscripts, and CSJ will help publish them.

From blogs to academic work and research, the Student Association will promote your work to their rapidly growing, worldwide audience. Encourage your students and colleagues to share their work and NCSA will market you and your work free of charge through their emails, website, and/or social media platforms.

NICE Framework Competencies: Call for Comments
The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) has released draft supplemental content to the Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity (NICE Framework). Draft NIST Interagency or Internal Report (NISTIR) 8355, NICE Framework Competencies: Assessing Learners for Cybersecurity Work, elaborates on Competencies, which were re-introduced to the NICE Framework in 2020. The NISTIR provides more detail on what NICE Framework Competencies are, including their evolution and development and example uses from various stakeholder perspectives.
Released in conjunction with NISTIR 8355 is a draft NICE Framework List of Competencies that provides a proposed list of 54 Competencies for the cybersecurity workforce.

The public comment period for draft NISTIR 8355 and the draft List of Competencies is open from March 17 to May 3, 2021. Please visit the webpage to view the draft documents and instructions on how to submit comments. Feedback will be used to inform the next stage of work on the NICE Competencies, including aligning Task, Knowledge, and Skill statements to associated Competencies. We value and welcome your input and look forward to your comments.

Cybersecurity Skills Journal: Practice and Research: Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) Anniversary Special Issue: Five Years of Raising the Capability Maturity Bar
The launch of the first issue of the Cybersecurity Skills Journal coincides with the 5th Annual Community College Cyber Summit (3CS). Besides some path-breaking articles from our Innovations in Cybersecurity Education award-winners, most of the special issue is dedicated to listings of the capability-enhancing presentations that have occurred over the past five years at the 3CS.

Community College Cyber Summit Call for Proposals
Share your cybersecurity expertise and experience with others! The 2021 Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) is looking for proposals for breakout sessions for its upcoming event Nov. 5-7 at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. Entries can vary in length from half day, one day to one-, two- or three-hours and should fit into one of five tracks: Evidence-Based, Instruction, Practice, Program Development and Student. Proposals are due June 15.

3CS 2021 Registration is Open
Get ready for loads of workshops and fun at the seventh annual Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) hosted at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, Nov. 5 -7. 3CS is the only national academic conference focused on cybersecurity education at community colleges. This year’s event features Cybersecurity Skills Development Workshops, a multitude of presentations and panel discussions, and the Job Fair and Career Exploration. Participants will also have several opportunities to discover Dayton.
