Forage Newsletter | August 2021
The Dairy One Forage Lab excels in providing high quality analyses and customer service. Our goal is to provide analytical services designed to meet the expanding demands of modern agriculture. New technology and traditional methods are combined to deliver fast, accurate results.
Feed Composition Library Updates
Our interactive Feed Composition Library has been updated to have more user-friendly features, better readability, improved mobile device experience, and more current values. This will be an ongoing project to add more feeds and state-specific values for average reports. TFA data will now be reported for applicable feeds. We have also added manure and water reports.

Updates to data and categories have also been made to the Equi-Analytical and Zooquarius sites.

State seasonal data is also available. If you need states that aren’t currently listed or a custom date range, please contact Sarah Fessenden for a unique report.

In both the state seasonal and main libraries, there are options to filter results and hide certain nutrient categories (color-coded in the far left column) using the column headers.
New York Fresh Haylage Quality Update
This year’s cuttings analyze similarly to 2019 forages, with the exception of crude protein measuring similar to 2020 forages. Digestibilities are comparable across all years for second cutting. We would be interested to see what you’ve been noticing in the field as these silages begin being fed.
*2021 data for third cutting only includes data through August 25.
Customer Survey
Dairy One exists to help farms succeed. One of the ways we do this is by providing high-quality analyses and services to those farms and the people who work with them. We know we are not the only choice you have when it comes to forage analysis and we value your business immensely.

We are always looking for ways to improve our services and customer experience. Whether you are currently sending us samples or have in the past, your feedback is an important tool in improving our services. The following survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. Your responses help us make adjustments where needed and to learn what products and services make the biggest impact on your business and the farms you serve.
Price Increase for Microbiological Services
Due to unexpected and significant changes in the fee structure from our sub-contracted lab for microbiological services, we will be increasing prices for the following services. Price changes will be effective September 1, 2021.

The affected services and prices are as follows:
(611) Mold and Yeast Counts - $29.00
(612) Salmonella - $71.00
(613) E. coli - $81.00

We understand the challenges that our industry and clients continue to face at all levels. As a farmer-focused organization, this is not a change we have taken lightly. Our goal continues to be to provide excellence in our analytical services, evolve to meet our customers' changing needs, and offer services with a competitive price structure.

We value our relationship with you and are proud to be part of the team that helps to bring success and profitability to your operations.
