GGUSD Hosts 51st Annual Special Games

Approximately 700 GGUSD students with disabilities competed in Olympic-like competitions during the district’s 51st annual Special Games on May 20 at the stadium at Bolsa Grande High School. The event is organized by the district’s Adapted Physical Education Department. Special Games shows the true heart of GGUSD. GGUSD High Schools Honor Students with Senior Awards Nights

GGUSD high schools recently hosted Senior Awards Nights to honor students for a variety of academic accolades, scholarships, and college acceptance.

Alamitos Intermediate Club Receives Excellence Award

Alamitos Intermediate School’s Club Live was recognized with a Chapter Excellence Award at the Orange County Friday Night Live Partnership Chapter Recognition Event earlier this month.


Club Live helped students lead drug and alcohol prevention campaigns and provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills. Alamitos Intermediate School began its Club Live chapter this school year with the help of school counselor Lisa Nguyen.

GGUSD Educators Honored with Arts Education Awards 

Recently, six GGUSD educators were honored with awards during the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators awards ceremony! Congrats to our amazing teachers for making a difference in the lives of students through arts education!


Awards were presented to Marcie Dormaier, teacher at Evans Elementary School; Micah Heath and Summer Hughes, teachers at Riverdale Elementary; Eric Keawekane, Visual Arts teacher at Los Amigos High School; Chrissie Leong, dance and theatre teacher at Garden Grove High School; and Gloria Wargo, Visual Arts teacher from Hare High School.


Strawberry Festival Holds Special Kids Day

GGUSD students enjoyed rides, games, festival food, and fun at the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival's annual Special Kids Day! The festival opens a day early to provide students with special needs an opportunity to enjoy the festival together in a safe, fun environment.

GGUSD parents are invited to attend a webinar presentation on Parenting in a Digital World on Monday, June 6th at 6:00pm. Attendees will learn about online safety, the dangers of online interactions, and how to keep kids safe. The presentation will be provided by a leading expert on cyber security, internet and social media safety. 


The presentation will be in English with interpretation in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Arabic. If interpretation is needed, please log in 15 minutes prior to start time for instructions.
