Senior Sunrise Celebrates Start of 2023-24 School Year

To kick off their last first-day of school at Healy High School, some of the members of the class of 2024 gathered at the Pioneer football field Tuesday, September 5, to enjoy a sunrise breakfast together. Here's to a fantastic 2023-24!

Furniture class back in session after hiatus

After a three-year absence, two Log Furniture classes are back in session. Students will build an assortment of furniture using the log material they harvested themselves. The students are excited for the class to return, and we look forward to displaying their creations throughout the building all semester long.

Happenings at Pioneer Elementary

Pioneer Preschoolers are Certified

Above: a few of the students in Mrs. Marshik's class show off their certification of using lots of color in their work.

Preschool students started their school journey this week with Mrs. Stamm and Mrs. Marshik. During the first few weeks of school, the students learn through modeling, and they practice the many activities needed in a day as a preschooler: walking in a line, playing in the block area, using markers, scissors and paint, and so much more. After each lesson is demonstrated by Mrs. Marshik and Mrs. Stamm, the students have a chance to practice, showing they are "certified" in that area. It really is a big deal to become "glue certified"! The main focus during the first few weeks of school is on building a school family and forming relationships between staff and students and between students themselves. Pioneer preschool staff understand the importance of helping new students feel safe and understand the expectations.

If you have a four-year-old who will enter kindergarten next fall and are interested in enrolling in a year of preschool this year, please call Sarah Funk at 320-468-6458 ext 7.

World Cultures, New Class at Pioneer

Ms. Mattea Moore has joined our staff this year, teaching one of the K-4 specials: World Cultures. She will take the students through a journey starting with local traditions and geography and travel through the world over the course of the year.

This week's lesson included the history of the chicken dance to honor the rich German history in our area.
