Working together in unity
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4: 3,16

Greetings!
I want to thank all of you who stepped up and donated to our Shepherd’s Hope matching grant fundraiser. As of today, we have received $3,165 toward the match. We were praying that we could make use of the total $10,000 that our 2 board members so generously made available. There is still time! We have a great opportunity to raise the $20,000 needed to help us with our utility bills and garbage/recycling pick-up costs which have also increased due to the rising gasoline/diesel prices. I know it is a dilemma we all face!! Considering we have only received $3,165, in reality we have received a total of $6,330 of the potential $20,000. WE NEED YOU HELP FOR DOUBLE THE REASONS!
Double Your Support
To help raise the money needed to pay for our utility bills (including trash/recycling service) and to keep us current through the summer months, 2 of our executive board families have appropriated $10,000 for a matching grant to help Shepherd’s Hope raise the resources needed to keep the ministry operational. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!  This matching grant will be available through May 31, 2022

A Unified Effort to Bring Change
At Shepherd’s Hope and THE CENTER of Englewood we are definitely in unity. We are growing and working together. On Saturday, May 21, 2022, three community events were held. We were “Hooping, Educating and Celebrating.”

Crystal Peck, the founder of Rip’n & Sew’n kicked off an exercise program in the gym that we are hoping to be a weekly event. Participants got a great workout using Hula Hoops and doing Double Dutch jump roping. What fun they had!!

Prior to Crystal’s event in the gymnasium, Baseball coach Dennis Butler instructed his youth baseball team on the fundamentals of the game.

On the playground, Dionne Frye (Mothers Against Street Shootings – M.A.S.S.) planned to present their 7th Annual Memorial Day Peace Event. Guests enjoyed food from the grill, a game truck, face painting and pony rides! (This event was postponed until next Saturday, May 28, because of weather}

On the second floor in rooms 200 & 207, Compudopt gave away computers to adults and youth who want to learn or improve their computer skills. They registered people for their daily computer classes which started Monday, May 23, 2022.

In rooms 211 and 213, Englewood First Responders held a celebration of baby Teriana who survived a mass shooting about 4 blocks from THE CENTER when she was only 1 month old. “By God’s Grace!” Happy First Birthday Teriana Smith!

As you can see “UNITY” is our goal. We are bringing this community together as we touch the people through our Food Pantry, Feeding Center, the 17 ministries in our building, and the 19 other ministries that we share our food. This is unity for GOD’s Glory!

The devil’s minions are in unity also. I am sharing a 30-second video filmed in Englewood just 4 blocks from THE CENTER that exemplifies their unity. Click Here to view (does include foul language). We need your help so that we can get to these young men before the devil does. Friday Nite Life is designed for that reason and will finally be starting on Friday, May 27, 2022. (Click here to read about the full Healing Englewood program).

Your prayers & support are needed.
On Sunday, May 22 there was also a prayer and relationship building walk in the most violent parts of Englewood. The walk began at 1:30 pm at 65th and Halsted. Five ministries from THE CENTER were involved in the walk and are working to make it a monthly event.

Please keep us in your PRAYERS, and if you are able, PLEASE HELP US FINANCIALLY so we can take advantage of the matching funds to keep on building righteous unity in Englewood.

We love you and hope that all is well with you and your family.

Thank you again for all your prayers and support throughout the years. We realize that without you, we would have missed out on this journey HE called Shepherd’s Hope.

Looking forward to our future together.

Sincerely,
Brian
One more thing...
P.S. If any of you have a car, SUV, van or truck in good running condition with 150,000 or less miles on it that you would consider donating, please call me at 773-351-3336. The transmission on the 2006 Dodge Dakota that I have been driving since the inception of Shepherd’s Hope in March of 2009, quit working on May 19, 2022 after 378,000 miles.
If you have a vehicle or know someone who has one they are not using and would consider selling or donating, I would appreciate if you would share our situation with them. We are a 501c3 non-profit and would provide all the paperwork required for tax purposes in reference to any donation. Thank you again.
Your help is always appreciated!
