Sunapee Happenings
"Sunset at Harding Hill Farm”. Photo by Robin Webb.
Though there’s still snow on the mountain for skiers, Lake Sunapee is showing some open water and sunny fields are bare, following unusually high 50’ temperatures and torrential rains.  Suspect this odd winter’s back is largely broken. On the other hand, we all know not to get our hopes up for balmy temps too soon. (There have been snowflakes recorded in May!) For now, the additional daylight is Godsend enough.

This coming Sunday, March 13th, JOSA fans are in for a treat! We are featuring two fabulous jazz artists, DENNIS COOK & GREG ABATE for a JOSA DOUBLE-HEADER!

Dennis Cook, a freelance saxophonist who has worked in the New England area for over 40 years, performing on numerous tours with the Artie Shaw Orchestra under the direction of Dick Johnson and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow and Terry Myers.
He's performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of Keith Lockhart and John Williams and has had the great honor of performing numerous times with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall in Boston and at Tanglewood in Lennox, MA.

Greg Abate, jazz saxophonist, flutist, and composer, tours internationally as a Jazz/Recording Artist 225 days a year. Greg’s newest release Gratitude, with the Tim Ray Trio, has received glowing reviews and a lot of international airplay.

Greg and Dennis this Sunday are a power-house saxophone duo that are sure to bring the musical frenzy to new heights. Not to be missed!
Musical treat: a most remarkably talented 7 year Russian girl playing balalaika with the orchestra!
