HADLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REUSE SURVEY
|
Your input is needed! The Hadley Elementary School Reuse Advisory Committee is exploring options for the potential reuse of the Hadley Elementary School, in the event that the building becomes available for other uses as a result of the current school building process. The Committee has developed a survey to assess the community's general preferences, common values, and ideas for a potential future reuse of the site.

SENIOR & VETERAN PROPERTY TAX WORK-OFF PROGRAM

Would you like to help out your Town and receive an abatement on your property taxes? Sign up for the Senior & Veterans Property Tax Work-off Program. Residents who are 60+ or a veteran can receive an abatement of up to $1,500 for 100 hours of work with the Town of Swampscott. Safe, socially-distanced (and potentially remote) positions in the Library, Senior Center, and various Town Departments are now available! Fill out an application or call 781-299-0069 x1226 or email workoffprogram@swampscottma.gov for more information or to request a hard-copy of the application.

STACY'S BROOK UPDATE
On March 3rd, the Select Board received a comprehensive update on the Stacy's Brook Sewer Main Rehabilitation Project and the Town's ongoing efforts to identify and eliminate sanitary sewer discharge from Stacy's Brook onto King's Beach.
Stacy’s Brook is an underground drainage system that empties onto King’s Beach at the Lynn line that is undergoing a multi-phased process to address water quality issues. View the informative presentation about the status of Phase 1 HERE.

Virtual Historic Tour of Swampscott
Monday, March 22 @ 7pm
Take a virtual tour of historical sites in Swampscott with the Swampscott Public Library without leaving your house! A question and answer session will follow the tour. Please register for this Zoom event HERE or by calling 781-596-8867. This will also be aired on the Swampscott Public Access Channel and on the Library's YouTube channel.
New England Innocence Project Talk

Hear from Rhada Natarajan, Executive Director of the New England Innocence Project as she discusses the work the nonprofit has done to correct and prevent wrongful convictions in several New England States. Register HERE. Check out the film on Netflix entitled Trial 4, in which NEIP helped free a wrongfully convicted man.

The Swampscott Senior Center is holding a Red Sox Opening Day Event outside the Senior Center on Thursday, April 1st at 12pm to celebrate new beginnings - the beginning of the Red Sox season, the beginning of Spring, and the eventual re-opening of the Senior Center!
Seniors are invited to stop by for hotdogs and other ballgame fare and music with a special guest. The cost is $5, which will be donated to the Jimmy Fund. Please call the Senior Center at 781-596-8866 by Friday, March 26th to reserve your spot.
