Word from Co-Pastors
We hope you enjoyed our two mini-series in August, talking about Esther and how faith is like football. We had fun preaching on these topics! And truth be told, Paul enjoyed a couple of weeks wearing more casual clothes without the robe. If you enjoyed wearing the football attire, feel free to continue doing so!
This week, we begin a new series we are calling "Faith over Fear." Over the next six weeks, we will talk about common fears all of us struggle with and how we find reassurance and encouragement through our faith to overcome these fears. As preparation for this Sunday and kicking off the series, we encourage you to google "FOMO". Some of you may know what this is already; for those who don't, please take a couple of minutes to find out!

Health & Safety Reminders
As COVID-19 positivity rates In Tarrant County return to substantially high levels, we want to remind you of our health & safety measures at Genesis. We strongly encourage you to wear a mask in the building and during worship- both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. We continue to have plenty of space for social distancing, including our side sections which are marked.
If you are not fully vaccinated for whatever reason, including children under the age of 12, we urge you to wear a mask in the building. We also encourage you to consider getting the vaccine, if you are eligible.
Unfortunately, most of the current cases are among unvaccinated persons. However, the CDC does caution that even vaccinated people can be carriers of variants of the coronavirus. Therefore, if you have been exposed to anyone with confirmed COVID-19 or the variants, we urge you to get tested and follow the CDC guidelines for isolation. If you feel sick, please join us online for worship. We will continue to monitor the situation and make updates as needed.

Church Council This Sunday
There will be a church council meeting this Sunday, August 29th immediately following the 10:30am worship service in the sanctuary. You are invited to stay and attend in person or connect via Zoom.

This Sunday we will start a series about faith vs fear; fear in many forms, fear that can keep us from leaning in to all that God has to offer us. Here are some wonderful contemporary song videos that remind us of the constant provision offered by our Savior.

Modern Worship Night: Sunday, Sept. 12 @ 6pm
We hope you will join us for our next modern worship gathering, and we hope you will bring your family and invite a friend or two! This will be a casual gathering featuring a guest music leader and communion (assuming your co-pastors communicate better this time!). Thanks for your continued prayers and support as we look towards offering modern worship again very soon!

40 Days of Action: Help Reach Our Community
As part of our next 40 days of prayer, we are creating some opportunities for people to step up and take some action. Pastor Paul is putting together a group of people to brainstorm ways to better engage our surrounding community and then work towards doing just that! Interested? Send Paul a direct email at [email protected] for more info.
This is NOT a missions/service committee - we already have one of those that works with Troy Chapman, and they are doing great things! Instead, this is a group to generate new and creative ideas for engaging the community through presence and publicity - think social media advertising, pop-up events, intentional involvement with neighborhood apps and associations, etc.

Nursery is Open for Worship!
As we welcome families back to in-person worship, we are excited to resume the Nursery for children ages 0-5 during the 10:30am worship service.
Here’s what parents and caregivers need to know:
- The Nursery room is located in the Preschool wing, classroom #7. Use the main Preschool doors across from the Chapel.
- Access doors will remained locked for children’s protection. Ring doorbell for access to the preschool wing and the Nursery.
- The Nursery will be open starting 10:15am.
- The same adult must drop off and pick up the child.
- No food or drink will be served, but individual beverage bottles are recommended.
- As per our church guidelines, masks are encouraged for those who are not vaccinated yet including children over the age of 2 years.
We welcome children over the age of 5 in the worship service. More Sunday children’s programs will be considered in coming weeks. If you have any further questions, please contact Pastor Amber ([email protected]).

Paper towels
Clorox wipes
Liquid hand soap (individual or refill)
White copy paper
Washable markers (classic colors)
Drop donations at the designated tables in the Atrium by August 29th.

Phone Problems
The church office is experiencing technical difficulties with the phone system. If you have tried calling the office after hours you have experienced this issue. Please be patient with us as we work through this problem. If you call the church office during the day, and don't get through, please try again. Currently, the voice mail system isn't working, nor is the rollover feature which allows us to receive more than one phone call at a time. We are working with our phone company and will update you on our progress. In the meantime, we kindly ask for your patience.

Memorial Fund
The Memorial Fund allows you to remember or honor a person or event by providing funds for a current ministry of the church. To offer a memorial or honor gift, you may contact the church, mark a gift accordingly or go to our website, www.genesisumc.com

Genesis offers electronic giving, which allows you to make donations on a scheduled, automatic basis. To set up electronic contributions, (checking or savings account or credit or debit card) you can come by the church office and complete an authorization form or go to the church website and give online.
Another great way to give is with a quick text message! Simply send a text to 817-697-2824 with the amount you would like to contribute. Make sure to include the dollar sign before the amount. Within a few minutes, you’ll be sent a text with a link to register. Once your registration is complete you will receive a text verification and a receipt via email.
It is important to know that we can depend on financial support from our congregation members to continue the missions that Genesis provides to so many, as we go through the summer, fall and upcoming holidays.
