Wool Days Returns to Old Sturbridge Village for Memorial Day Weekend
Popular program featuring OSV’s heritage-breed sheep takes place May 28-30

Sturbridge, M.A. – Old Sturbridge Village will host its annual Wool Days program on Memorial Day weekend 2022, taking place Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Included with standard daytime admission or active membership, Wool Days highlights the Village’s heritage-breed adult sheep and new spring lambs, as well as the many uses for the wool collected during the sheep-shearing event.

The wool process was an extensive one in the 19th century, often featuring many steps including scouring and carding wool, dyeing, spinning, knitting the hand-spun yarn, and transforming the wool into household fabrics and clothing. See how OSV costumed historians recreate the process, first giving the sheep their annual “haircut” and then working the wool into its finished form.
During the event, guests can also enjoy daily demonstrations, including, hearth cooking, printing, coopering, blacksmithing, shoemaking, and cabinetmaking in the building newly opened last fall (some activities are weather-dependent). Sheep plushies, yarn, learn-to-knit kits, and other event-specific items will be available for purchase during Wool Days in the Miner Grant store.
Standard daytime admission rates for the event are $28 for adults, $26 for seniors (55+), $14 for youth (4-17) and college students. The Village is free to children ages 3 and under. More information on Wool Days can be found at: https://www.osv.org/event/wool-days/.
