Teenagers in Grades 8-12 are invited to participate in a multi-faceted ministry at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church. You're encouraged to join Youth Director Rick Belbutoski and other adult leaders for a variety of ministries, events, and ways to serve your neighbor in the name of Jesus Christ.

Dear Hennepin Youth and Families,

Have you heard about Hennepin's exciting new partnership? I'm excited to share the news of our new partnership with the Wesley Foundation at the University of Minnesota. Lauren Rheingans is the Director of Wesley Foundation at the U, and she and I are going to begin investing in each other's ministries. What that means for Hennepin youth is the added perspective of what it means for youth to become more responsible for their faith once they graduate and begin college. This is such an important step in a youth's faith formation, and I'm glad to celebrating the news of this partnership with you.

There is info about great ways for you and your family to live your faith out this week. Please take a few minutes to check out what's going on with Hennepin youth below.

Grace and Peace,

Rick

March Food Share is On

Food has always been a challenge for some people, but now with this pandemic people are suffering more. People have reported feeling insecure about their food, to where 80% of African Americans have reported, 70% of Hispanics have reported, over 50% of other races have reported insecurities. This is absurd to think about because there is more than enough food to feed everyone on the planet, yet worldwide about 690 million people go to bed hungry each night.

We can help the people that are struggling with food shortages. HAUMC is planning on preparing a food drive to help others, but you could help by sacrificing going out to eat at a restaurant and eat at home and use that money to donate. Also you could save your coins and pocket change and with time donate it and make a difference in the world.

We'll be taking donations throughout the month of March to help stock the Groveland Food Shelf to keep it working for those in need.

If you want to drop off donations, we will have bins available in the East Wing of the church, March 1-26, Monday through Friday between 9am and 4pm.

Need to send your donations in? Just use this convenient link to order from Amazon, and your items will be delivered to HAUMC.

Save the Date

I want to invite you to save the first week in August for the upcoming Local Justice Mission. As an intentional response to the inequities that have been illuminated and amplified by the pandemic and killing of George Floyd in the hands of the Minneapolis Police, Hennepin youth will have the opportunity to join youth from all over the Twin Cities for a week of service. The local justice mission is a collaborative effort from five area United Methodist Church's and is open to middle and high school students. More details are coming soon. Please mark your calendars.

Camp Minnesota!

Camp Minnesota
Registration is open for the 2021 camping season! Check out the sessions at the Camp Minnesota website and pick your favorite location: Northern Pines, Koronis Ministries, or Kowakan Adventures.

Registration and all information for the 2021 camping season will be digital and available on our website. With the potential for changes to schedules and events leading up to summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Dakotas and Minnesota Camp & Retreat Ministry team chose to forgo the traditional printed camp brochure this year. Instead, all camp listings and registration information are on the Camp Minnesota website where details will be updated quickly, and changes made in real-time. This ensures you will always have the most up-to-date information.

The early bird incentive, bring-a-friend discount, and camperships are all still available.
