LOCAL ELECTION ON OCTOBER 19

REAL ESTATE TAX EXEMPTION APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE
The Assessing Department is now accepting the FY22 applications for real estate tax exemptions for our community members who are disabled veterans, legally blind, or are seniors who meet certain income and asset criteria. For an application, or questions about qualification requirements, please call 781-596-8817.
WATER & SEWER RATE CHANGES
The new Water & Sewer bills received by property owners last week reflect the new Swampscott rates. Have a question about your bill? Read more about the new rates and who to speak to about your bill on the Town website.
Traffic Signal Changes

Traffic signals at pedestrian crossings on Humphrey Street at Blaney Street, Pleasant Street, and Puritan Road have all been updated to flash yellow instead of green to encourage drivers to slow down and keep an eye out for pedestrians.
Lilac Garden

Thank you to Albert Gallo and his crew for donating time to clean up the lilac garden on Monument Ave.
Gas Main Repairs
There will be ongoing gas main repairs happening throughout Town. Repairs are currently underway on Norfolk Ave., Berkshire St., and Hampden St. Work on Middlesex Ave. will begin in the next few weeks. All streets will be closed for repair and drivers should expect delays if traveling these routes.
Grant awards generally range from $200 to $750.
Applicants can apply online by October 15, 2021 through the
Massachusetts Cultural Council portal at www.massculturalcouncil.org.
CONSERVATION COMMISSION
SEEKS NEW MEMBER!
The Conservation Commission is charged with protecting our Town’s natural resources through regulatory permitting and land protection. The Commission’s primary work involves reviewing projects occurring near and in water-related lands (such as wetlands and floodplains) to ensure that these natural resources are protected in a manner consistent with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act. It is helpful if applicants have some knowledge of, or at least an interest in learning about, protection of wetlands and other resource areas covered under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act. For more information contact Molly O'Connell at moconnell@swampscottma.gov. SWAMPSCOTT ART ASSOCIATION EXHIBIT AT SENIOR CENTER

From October 3, 2021 through the end of November, the Swampscott Art Association will be showcasing member work at the Senior Center. The artwork is viewable during normal Center operating hours between Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm.

Artwork is available for sale.

Stop by the Senior Center to meet the artists, enjoy a cookie, and perhaps purchase a piece of artwork for your home!

Yard waste must be placed in paper bags or barrels labeled as “Yard Waste” on your regular trash day. 

Acceptable Yard Waste: grass, leaves and tree/brush trimmings up to 1 inch thick 
Not Acceptable: soil, stumps, rocks, mulch, and trimmings more than 1 inch thick

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE

EARLY VOTING DATES
Early voting will take place at Town Hall, 22 Monument Ave. The hours will be as follows:​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • Saturday 10/9: 9 AM to 2 PM
  • Tuesday 10/12: 9 AM to 8 PM
  • Wednesday 10/13: 9 AM to 8 PM
  • Thursday 10/14: 9 AM to 8 PM
  • Friday 10/15: 8 AM to 12 PM

There will be no early voting on Monday 10/11 due to the holiday.

ELECTION
Date: October 19, 2021
Location: All precincts will vote in the Swampscott High School Gymnasium at 200 Essex St.

EARLY VOTING BALLOT DEADLINE
All early voting ballots must be returned by the close of polls to the Town Clerk's Office
