We enjoyed seeing many in our SFD community at our annual Men and Women of DeSales Mass last Saturday. A special thank you to Fr. Petry, from St. Anthony Parish, for celebrating Mass, and to the Salesian Sisters who spoke after Mass about incorporating the Salesian Way in our daily lives. Also, thank you to our Mothers Club for helping organize this community event.

Seniors in the government classes have been working on Civic Action Projects (CAP) over the past four months. These projects are designed to give students real world experience in problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and the practice of becoming engaged and effective citizens. Back in September students began to understand government policy and policymakers. In November students chose a current public policy problem in which they were interested, and began researching the issue and its connections to public policy. In early January they came up with a goal and proposals of what they could do to address this problem. Once their proposals were approved, they began engaging in a variety of civic actions designed to achieve their goal. One group's project, which has a personal connection to one of our students, was recently featured on 10TV.com.

The Addams Family features an original story, and it is every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.
