Reorientation: From Doubt to Hope

Throughout Eastertide, the time during which we celebrate the season of Easter, we have struggled with doubt in a quest to find hope. We have learned that doubt does not come out of nowhere; it is often the result of experiencing life’s ups and downs. To illustrate these ups and downs, we have explored the image of a yoyo and discussed how life’s yoyoing experiences leaves us exhausted, anxious, and fearful. In this Sunday's passage, Jesus is ministering to anxious and fearful disciples. He gives them a promise that they will have the presence of the Holy Spirit, even in His absence. That sweet, sweet Spirit is with us today. That sweet heavenly dove that was present at Jesus’ baptism is present with us. Let us worship with uplifted hearts, minds, and souls the presence of God’s Spirit that is among us, between us, and in us. Let us turn and worship the God who keeps promises, is present in the form of the Holy Spirit, and grants us a peace that surpasses all understanding.
The scripture this Sunday come from John 14:23-19

Meaningful Oscar-Winning Movie “Mrs. Miniver” Screens after Worship, May 29

In honor of Memorial Day and all-too-timely world events, CrossRoads Café Bible class will screen “Mrs. Miniver” directly after worship service, Sunday, May 29th. “Mrs. Miniver” tells the story of a British family that is slowly engulfed by World War 11. Starring Greer Garson, this 1942 release was the number one film of the year and won the Best-Picture Oscar. British prime minister Winston Churchill said this film had tremendous influence in getting America to come to Britain’s aid against the Nazi invasion.

A short Q & A will follow. All the church family and the community is invited. Rated PG. No charge.

Tuesday Morning Mediation: Guest Speaker

This summer we will have guest speakers for the month of June and July.
Joining us in June will be Rev. Jarell Wilson.
Rev. Jarell Wilson is a holder of some fancy degrees, but what’s most important is their expertise in the Theology of Beyoncé, their pets, their incredible Animal Crossing island named Valinor, and their desire to leave this world having pushed it to look more like the Kindom of God. Jarell is a UMC ordination drop-out, an eternal student, a seeker of the Spirit, and lover of Jesus Christ. Their ministry is to bring Justice with grace and healing for all.
