Storm Debris Disposal

Reminder, residents can still take their downed tree limbs and branches from the December ice storm to the landfill for disposal through March 10. Tree limbs and branches are the only acceptable material that can be dropped off for disposal.

A third gate is open specifically for residents to use to drop off their tree limbs and branches. Residents with storm debris will not be allowed to use the other gates for drop-off to avoid interruption of service for trash haulers and other solid waste customers. Customers dropping off tree limbs and branches will be required to pass over the weight scale as the city will still be responsible for payment to the state for the amount of tonnage collected from the storm debris.

Customers dropping off storm debris will follow the same guidelines as Clean Sweep. Documentation of St. Joseph residency is required and no commercial vehicles are allowed.

Hours of operation for the landfill are Monday through Friday from 7am to 4:30pm, and Saturday from 7am to 2pm.
More Accessible Seating at the Missouri Theater

The Missouri Theater now has additional accessible seating for wheelchairs on the orchestra level. When the new sound and light board, a huge investment which enhanced the presentation of all events at the facility for both the performer and the audience, was installed, it reduced the amount of accessible seating in the theater.

The Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities Department staff recently dismantled two rows of seating in the orchestra level to make room for additional wheelchair seating. Crews leveled the flooring, installed footings and railings so the theater can now accommodate additional wheelchairs for all performances.

Staff looks forward to being able to re-open the theater for full events in the near future and have guests see the improvements.
