Weekly Newsletter 09/16/2022

Dear Parents,

Although a wet one, we had a wonderful week at Kids For Kids Academy. I am so thankful for all of the parents at our school and their willingness to help. This week we had network issues and with one message to parents, in just 10 minutes, I had replies from 7 parents who are IT people or know someone. Within 30 minutes a tech was here and fixed our problem....a lightning-struck switch! That made me decide to give parents an opportunity to share their businesses with each other. Any parent who would like to drop off 25 business cards, I will set up a display so we can support each other. I will also do a weekly Family Business Spotlight.

This week I would like to spotlight Kaleelah Calder (mom of Anthony and Aniya Gibbs). Kaleelah is the owner of a salon called K Styles & Cuts 786-351-7713. I can give her a first-hand recommendation as she has been cutting and styling my hair since school started in August. She is right around the corner in London Square and she also has come our school career day to teach our students about being a hairdresser.

I am also excited to share that we are officially opening our playground for private weekend birthday parties. There is a flyer hanging outside the school or you can click here to learn more.

The cost will be $100 per hour plus $25 an hour that will go to the teacher who will be here as the attendant. As you are able to bring your own food, and there is no per child charge like most party places, parents will be able to design their own party right here in the privacy of our beautiful shaded playground. Parties will have use of our playgrounds with misting fans and plenty of tables as well as air-conditioned bathrooms. We will also provide refrigerator space if needed. If interested, see me for booking information. A great party add-on is also the Jungle Gym. She will honor her school party prices on the weekends if she is available.

As mentioned in a Brightwheel message, there was an error on our school calendar for December. A new calendar can be seen at this link:

The new calendar shows our instructional days going through December 23rd. We are closed December 26-January 2. January 3-6 we will be open but it will be non-instructional for our VPK and K/1 kids so attendance will not be taken and it will be like camp days.

Finally, the date for our annual Halloween Happening has been changed to October 26th. Please see the signs posted outside the school for more information about this event. Even though it is more than a month away, we have already started accepting donations for the event. Families who are able to are asked to donate 1 bag of candy for our homeless project. Each year our students decorate and fill 200 bags so homeless kids at Chapman Partnership can enjoy the simple pleasure of a bag of candy despite their homelessness.

We also ask families who are able to donate one bag or box of NON candy items for our Costume parade. More information about the event as well as the time schedule for the costume parade can be found on the white bulletin board outside the school.

Have a wonderful weekend!
