PAST EVENTS
On March 13, 2021, k9 Connection's Pets' Landing & The Street Dog Coalition returned for another free Spring Clinic and Fair for Pets of People Experiencing Homelessness (PEH). The event was held in the Weingart Center parking lot.

Approximately 64 pets (50 dogs and 14 cats) wagged and purred their way to a clean bill of health by receiving health examinations, all vaccinations including rabies w/certificate, flea medication, skin and ear treatments, waterless shampoo baths, and nail trimmings.

Brand new collars, leashes, and harnesses were available for custom fittings at the Pets’ Landing Gear booth and all 51 pet guardians received a Pet Parent Handbook and a chance for their close-up on the green (Astroturf) carpet.

While on-site, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services team of ten administered 54 COVID vaccine first doses (43 for PEH and 11 for Event Staff).

Pet gift bags and supplies were given away, along with complimentary water and sack lunches donated by Auntie Sewing Squad for pet owners.

Pets’ Landing is a quarterly event that takes place in the Weingart Center parking lot. The next clinic is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 10 AM-2 PM; admittance is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Also during the pet clinic, the Weingart Center distributed 80 "Bundle-Up Bundles" to people experiencing homelessness in Downtown Los Angeles. The bundles contained a variety of cold-weather essentials and were made possible by the coordinated efforts of COCObundle and Rose Community Capital.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE
Dear friends,

Not only is Spring a time for warmer weather and increased daylight hours, but it is also a time for growth and renewal.

It is this same spirit of growth and renewal that drives us at the Weingart Center, bringing forth new ideas, programs, and services—all designed to offer life-changing opportunities to our most vulnerable neighbors.

Through collaborative interim housing initiatives such as the Hilda L. Solis Care First Village and our new 91-bed facility, Beacon, the Weingart Center is able to offer housing and supportive services to an increasing number of individuals experiencing homelessness.

And as many Angelenos are returning to work after months of unemployment, I am happy to say that a good number of these job seekers are some of our very own clients, thanks to the Weingart Center’s job preparedness and education programs.

After a long year of uncertainty for many in Los Angeles and around the world, it is nice seeing a progression toward a more normal life. With that being said, we still need your help.

None of the important work that we do would be possible without the generosity of individuals just like yourself. I invite you to share our commitment to renewal and growth for thousands right here in L.A. who still need our help. By investing in a life through a tax-deductible donation, you can help fund programs and services that empower and transform lives by using innovative solutions that are designed to break the cycle of homelessness. Together we can make a difference.

Happy Spring to you and your loved ones.
