Hello, library friends --
I'm excited to host our second annual Trunk or Treat this Saturday. At the moment, the weather forecast tells me that we'll have temperatures in the upper 40s and partly sunny skies. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the weather holds and our local kids can enjoy a little outdoor fun on Halloween. It's not too late for you to participate, too - local residents, businesses, and organizations are welcome to set up in our parking lot to hand out Halloween treats!
We also have another craft kit ready to distribute later this week and book club meetings coming up. Read on details and for the latest news from your library.
Take care,
Teresa Schmidt

Interlibrary delivery temporarily unavailable
The library will not receive library system deliveries during the week of October 26.
Our library system and delivery staff is beginning a 14-day quarantine due to potential coronavirus exposure. Any items on hold from other libraries will be delayed until further notice, including items already listed as 'in transit.'
You can still place holds on items owned by other libraries in the Merlin system, but those items will not be delivered to our library until after our delivery staff is cleared to work again. You can also continue to place holds on materials owned by the Mercer Library for convenient pickup in the library or with curbside service.
Note: Our Mercer Library staff is not affected and our library remains OPEN to the public at this time. Please remember that masks are required for all library visitors ages 5 and older. If you cannot wear a mask for any reason, we are happy to accommodate you with curbside service. Call 715-476-2366 for details.

Trunk or Treat, October 31st
The Library will sponsor our second annual "Trunk or Treat" in our parking lot on Saturday, October 31st at 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Local residents, businesses, and organizations are invited to set up a booth/truck/car trunk and hand out Halloween goodies to local kids, and we'd love to have you participate! Please contact the library at 715-476-2366 or email director@mercerpubliclibrary.org so we can reserve a space for you.
Families are invited to stop by for socially-distanced trunk-or-treat fun. Have the kids wear their costumes and get some goodies. The Mercer Education Foundation will be holding a toy and treat walk fundraiser on the ice rink during our Trunk or Treat hours. Play for a chance to win a fall treat and raise money for the education foundation. Kids can also trick-or-treat at downtown businesses during the same hours.

The Library is OPEN
Masks are required for all library visitors ages 5 and older. All visitors are required to keep their mask over their mouth and nose at all times while inside the library. We have disposable masks for those who need them for their library visit.
Winter library hours are:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday & Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
If you cannot wear a mask or are avoiding unnecessary contact, we are happy to accommodate you with curbside service. We can provide books, movies, games, puzzles, and other materials; answer reference questions; and help provide copy, fax, notary, and printing services. Call us at 715-476-2366 or email director@mercerpubliclibrary.org.
For those who need to participate in online classes/meetings, we can make our meeting room and the small memory lab equipment room available to you. Since the rooms are in regular use, we recommend making a reservation.
You may use one of these rooms and remove your mask only if:
- You must participate in an online class or meeting where you are speaking. Please don't use these rooms just because you don't like wearing a mask - we need to reserve them for those who genuinely need to for school or work.
- You are inside the room with the door closed either alone or only with others from your immediate household.
- You let us know when you leave, so we can close the room for 30-60 minutes after your visit.
