Dear Families of the MS 104 Community:

I hope this message finds everyone doing well. Our first full week of the school year is going very well! Students are settling in to their classes as they engage in their initial units of study.

As part of our efforts to maintain the safest school possible, our students will be engaging in Emergency Readiness training. This week, our students will be trained in the General Response Protocols to ensure that all staff and students are prepared in all Emergency Readiness responses. We will begin holding the first of our required drills in the coming weeks. To learn more about the types of training that our students will be receiving, please click here. As always, I thank you for your partnership and collaboration as we work together to ensure our community is as safe as possible.

Please see some updates and announcements below.

Have a great rest of the day!

Sincerely,

Rocco Macri, Principal

Back to School Night is Next Thursday, September 21!!!

Our Back to School Night event will be held next Thursday, September 21st from 4:30 PM-7:00 PM. Please be advised that this will be a VIRTUAL event. This evening will allow families to meet their child's teachers, grade level guidance counselor, and grade level supervisor. Families will have the opportunity to learn about their child's coursework and important policies and procedures that will support your experience and your child's academic success. Please be advised that this evening is not one in which teachers will speak to parents individually about their child. Parent-teacher conferences will take place later in the fall.

A schedule for the evening will be provided to families as the date approaches.

We look forward to connecting with you next Thursday!

Protocols for COVID-19

While schools find themselves functioning fully, there are still protocols in place when students or staff members are infected with COVID-19. Students that test positive for COVID must isolate for five days. Starting on day six, they may return to school if their symptoms have improved and must wear a mask through day ten.

If your child tests positive for COVID, please email our dean John Sabo, pupil accounting secretary Bonnie Doyle, your grade level supervisor, and your child's homeroom teacher. A member of our team will follow up with next steps.

Thank you for cooperation with this matter.

Digital Emergency Contact Form

Each year, all students must have an emergency contact card filled out. Our school collects cards both digitally and via the traditional blue emergency cards. Having this information in both formats is critical to our student safety and emergency preparedness systems. In the event of an emergency that requires our students and staff to evacuate the building and report to a relocation site, the digital contact form will be of great assistance in contacting families. We also require the hard copy blue emergency cards to be filled out in the event that we lose access to the internet due to power outages and/or connection capability during an emergency.

I ask that all families complete the Digital Emergency Contact Form here by next Friday, September 15th. The hard copy blue emergency contact cards will be distributed to students in the coming days.

Thanks in advance for helping us ensure that we are as prepared as possible for an emergency involving your child and/or our school community.

Our Annual Fund is our primary source of fundraising. Your support will be more crucial than ever this year as our school faces unprecedented budget cuts and increased student need. Please give what you can.
