Caution! Officer Impersonation Scam
The Derry Township Police Department has received multiple complaints of officer impersonation fraud in the form of unsolicited phone calls. The caller claims to be Sgt. Jeff Snyder of the Derry Township Police Department and claims the victim has an active arrest warrant for their failure to appear in court. The caller advises the warrant will be withdrawn if the fines and costs are immediately paid in full. The caller directs the victim to purchase a set amount of pre-paid gift cards to pay off the fine.
The Never Forget Walk & BBQ
Public Invited to Attend Parade

The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department is honored to host Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO of Tunnel to Towers on August 28, 2021. Frank Siller is walking in honor of his brother Stephen, who lost his life on September 11, 2001. Stephen, then 34, had just left his Brooklyn firehouse [Squad 1] and was on the way to play golf with his brothers when he heard the news of the attack. The married father-of-five made it to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel where he found it closed to traffic for security reasons. Stephen strapped on some 60-pounds of gear and walked through the tunnel and more than three miles to the WTC where he lost his life helping others.

To help honor Stephen and welcome Frank, A parade will kick off at 11am going from Staples on West Chocolate Avenue ending at the parking lot of the Hershey Theatre parking lot on East Caracas Avenue (one block from the firehouse).

There will be a 100’x50’ trailer with 911 displays at the station and where members of the FDNY will be cooking for all those who wish to pay tribute to both Stephen and Frank.
Don't Feed The Ducks!
Just a reminder to our Derry Township Residents… Please do not feed the ducks and geese at Bull Frog Valley Pond. Although it may be tempting to feed the waterfowl, it is definitely not in their best interest.

Why we shouldn’t feed Ducks/Geese at the pond:
  • Bread makes waterfowl ill because it does not contain the proper nutrition or calories.
  • Rotting bread pollutes the water and causes nasty surface algae, which kills the fish and in return gives the ducks/geese diseases.
  • Providing food doesn’t teach the ducks and geese to properly forage for themselves and makes them rely on human contact.
  • It attracts predators.

Waterfowl droppings can also create quite a mess -One goose can create over 2 pounds of waste per day! This feces can contain E Coli, Salmonella, Giardia, Cryptosporidium and other harmful bacteria.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Township of Derry Parks & Recreation at 717-533-2057, option 7.

The Township’s program includes provisions for reserving public parking spaces for curbside pickup, allowing outdoor dining and display areas within private parking areas, and suspending sign enforcement during the term of the program.
