International Women's Day

Collectively we can #BreakTheBias in communities, the workplace, and schools. This year's theme, “#BreakTheBias", is a call to action to confront gender bias, discrimination, and stereotyping in daily life, and to foster a more equitable and inclusive world, where difference is valued and celebrated. International Women's Day celebrates the social, political, and economic achievements of women while focusing the world's attention on gender inequities that demand action. {reprograma} is a social impact initiative that focuses on teaching programming to cis and trans women who do not have the resources and/or opportunities to learn programming. Founded in 2016 by three women, {reprograma}, works to address the gender gap in Brazil’s technology sector, through free training for underrepresented and low-income women and girls. {reprograma} offers women-centred bootcamps and learning methodology, including a free 18-week training bootcamp, which focuses on equipping participants with social and emotional learning competencies, and aims to foster communication and technical skills needed to succeed, in a job, in the tech sector. The Project development by Smithsonian Science Education Center in collaboration with the InterAcademy Partnership, provides youth around the world, ages 8-17, with the knowledge and skills to to become agents for change in their own communities. Through a series of free community research guides, youth use their communities as their laboratory to investigate the science that grounds and informs the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Technovation Girls: Video Diaries
Technovation Girls equips young women (ages 8-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems. The Technovation Video Diaries series enables youth to follow teams of girls from six countries through their entrepreneurship journeys, as they build their own apps, overcome challenges, and work together.

This global, youth-led scientific journal is a platform for youth to share findings, ideas, and innovations to maximum impact. The journal includes projects and articles on diverse STEM topics from climate change to machine learning.
