Zion’s School mission is “Teaching Christ and Serving Families.” The school shares Christ by teaching students about Christ and changes lives by serving the school families.

Our vision is that all students will experience God’s love and forgiveness and learn to show that same forgiveness to others. Students will be safe, responsible, and respectful to themselves and others, and achieve academically to the best of their ability.

MESSAGE FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Dear Zion Families,

This month, we look forward to our WASC Accreditation Mid-Cycle Progress visit. This will be a one-day virtual visitation on March 16th. The purpose of a mid-cycle visit is to review the progress Zion has made on the identified school needs and identified student learner needs in our Action Plan and to determine the impact on student learning and the continuous improvement initiatives since the previous full self-study in 2018. If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lyles.

MESSAGE FROM ECEC DIRECTOR
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Friday, March 5th.
This is a scheduled (closed) non-student day on our annual calendar. This year, the teachers will continue to assess the children and you will receive a copy of the assessment the first week of March. Due to COVID, we cannot allow face-to-face conferences, however, if you wish to have a Zoom meeting with your child’s teacher, that can be arranged; just let Mrs. Lori know.
We still plan on being closed that day as a non-student day. The teachers will be using it for a Professional Development Day. We have a full day of training planned and the teachers will be re-energized and filled with some new ideas. This has been an unusual year and our teachers have risen over and above what has been expected of them. We are blessed to have them here at Zion.
ECEC Registration
February 1st began open enrollment (re-enrollment) for the 2021-2022 school year. If you did not get a packet or need another, please let Mrs. Lori know. This is also a good time to talk with your friends about enrolling in our Zion ECEC; remember, you receive a $400.00 referral credit for each family that enrolls.

CHURCH NEWS UPDATE
Zion Returns to Indoor Worship
On Sunday, February 28th was our “Soft Open” of returning inside the Sanctuary. Through March and our Red Letter Challenge, we will remain in one service at 9:30 am so we can finish the challenge together. The organ will soon return to this more blended service, with highly celebratory Palm Sunday and Easter worship services.  After Easter, we will be adding a traditional service, also streamed, to our Sunday Schedule. Click Here to continue reading the entire article from Pastor Tim.
JOIN THE CHALLENGE
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO FOLLOW JESUS?
The Red Letter Challenge is a 40-Day discipleship challenge.
In the Red Letter Challenge, you will be introduced,
through the words of Jesus, to the five main principles
of being a disciple.

If you are tired of just checking religious boxes,
if you know that you were made for something more,
and if you want to make a greater difference in this world,
the Red Letter Challenge is for you!

WHO IS THE RED LETTER CHALLENGE FOR?
This Challenge is for anybody and everybody. Young and old.
Men and women. Church and unchurched. New Christian, life-long Christian,
non-Christian. It's for anybody who's looking for something more in life.
Join us this Sunday as Pastor Tim shares on
FORGIVING - Week 3 - of:
The Red Letter Challenge

We are planning for a Single Sunday Service inside the Sanctuary at 9:30 am. We will continue to provide plenty of space to spread out for social distancing.

We encourage you to invite your family and friends, and while wearing your mask, join your brothers and sisters in Christ for a responsible social distance worship experience!

Although we encourage you to join us in person, if you are unable to join us in person, we encourage you to watch the Facebook Live streaming of our service at 9:30 AM. Our weekly Zion Buzz newsletter will have a copy of the order of service with the words to the liturgy, scriptures, songs, and prayers so that you can follow along with us in worship.

Zion serves Communion on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month at our in-person service. However, we also remain available to provide “touchless” communion to you at your home. Simply request a kit through the church office or click here to sign up for an @Home Communion Kit.

We are continuing to take reservations (RSVP) for the time being so that we can ensure the health and safety of all who are attending. Let us know you're coming by registering yourself and your family. Please note, that an RSVP is required by all people including children.

Life is full of challenges!  Many of them life just throws at us and we see how we will fair through them.  2020 for example was full of challenges we didn’t get to choose.  2021 seems to be more of the same.  But there are many other challenges we get to choose – or friends choose for us by inviting us on social media; the ice bucket challenge, the no sugar challenge, the let a website choose your personality challenge, the math pun challenge, the list goes on and on.  Some are helpful or at least benefit a good cause – others just waste your time!

But what if you could choose a challenge that would better prepare you for the challenges you don’t get to choose?  The Red Letter Challenge is just that.  It’s a challenge to join our church in READING and DOING the words of Jesus for 40 days. If you know that you were made for something more, if you want to grow closer to Jesus, and if you want to make a greater difference in this world, the Red Letter Challenge is for you!  Even if you still are not sure about Jesus, reading his own words for 40 days is a great way to get to know Him.

You may start down the Red Letter Challenge path, but be warned, along the way Jesus is going to challenge you through His own words to Be, Forgive, Serve, Give, and Go in His Name.  Do you have what it takes to follow Jesus? Let’s find out together in our new series and small groups.
