Community Feedback on Transportation Needs |

There are currently multiple opportunities for residents to provide input and feedback on transportation needs and concerns in the Bennett community.
The Town of Bennett has initiated the first ever Master Transportation Plan (MTP) to establish a long-range vision for the Town of Bennett’s transportation system over the next 20+ years. Residents are asked to provide feedback on a short questionnaire here or can place their concerns on an interactive map here.
On January 19, 2022 the Town of Bennett hosted an Engage. Shape. Build public input meeting regarding this new plan. You can watch a video of the meeting below.

CDOT is also studying ways to improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians within Bennett and throughout Region 1. The study will include an evaluation of systemic and "hot spot" improvements on CDOT owned roadways within Region 1. The primary goal of this project is to support future safety grant applications to implement projects.
CDOT is asking for residents to participate in a survey on areas of concern. If you are interested in participating you can fill out the survey here.

New Building Department Software |

In 2022 the Town of Bennett Building Department implemented new software in order to streamline processes for contractors and builders in Town. All contractors (including those with existing Town of Bennett Contractor Licenses) will need to set up an online portal to apply for permits, request inspections and see permit/inspection statuses and results.

Visit the SmartGov portal at https://twn-bennett-co.smartgovcommunity.com/Public/Home
- In the upper right hand corner, click on "Sign Up" and create an account.
- If you are an existing contractor please email [email protected] to obtain an access code, this will allow you to link your existing license and permits to your portal.
- You will receive an email from the portal prompting you to verify your account.
- After verifying your account, click on 'My Portal.' This is where you can apply for permits and licenses, view the statuses of those applications, make any payments, and request inspections.
- Click on 'Apply Online', select the contractor licensing category, and complete the application.
- At the end of the application, add any required submittals and make any payments if initially required.
- In order to manage notifications from the system, click on your name in the top right corner and click on 'My Account', then click on 'Manage Email Notifications.' From here, you can indicate what you want to receive emails on from the system.

The Bennett Art Council was created in 2018 with the mission to promote, connect and empower arts and culture for all ages.

Community Services Fire Safety Reminders |

Nearly one month after the Marshall Fires in Boulder County, the Town of Bennett would like to remind residents of some fire safety tips to help keep their homes safe.
Keeping your property clear of debris is one way to help stop a fire from spreading. Making sure hedges are trimmed back, grass isn’t overgrown, there are no piles of dead leaves or branches in the yard and that loose trash is cleaned up is important. These things could act as a catalyst for a fire starting.
It is important to also have a working fire extinguisher in your home, specifically in the kitchen and garage. Make sure they are not expired and you and your family know how to use it properly.
Smoke alarms are your best early warning system in the event of a fire. Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, including the basement and outside each sleeping area. If you sleep with the door closed, install one inside your sleeping area as well.
Test alarms every month and replace batteries once a year, or whenever an alarm "chirps" to signal low battery power. Never "borrow" a smoke alarm's battery for another use - a disabled alarm can't save your life. Replace all alarms that are more than 10 years old.
Making sure chimneys are cleaned annually, electrical systems are up to code and water heaters and furnaces are installed properly are all key ways to keep your home safe as well.

The Town of Bennett has implemented the CodeRED emergency notification system for residents.
This platform will allow Bennett to communicate with residents by sending telephone calls, text messages, emails, posts to social media and mobile app messages to inform residents about emergencies and general Town notifications.
The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of Bennett’s emergency planning and communications outreach. The Town of Bennett will also be using CodeRED’s Weather Warning system. This automated weather warning technology will deliver phone calls, text messages and emails to registered residents and businesses within the direct path of severe weather. This is an opt-in service that automatically notifies those enrolled of tornado, flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings just moments after an alert is issued by the National Weather Service.
All residents living within the Town of Bennett limits are encouraged to enroll here using their phone numbers, emails and addresses. No one should assume they are automatically registered in the contact database and residents are encouraged to create an account so they can personalize their notification settings.
Residents can also sign up for alerts by texting ‘BENNETTALERTS” to 99411.

Riverdale Animal Shelter Low-Cost Vaccination Clinic for Cats and Dogs |

Riverdale Animal Shelter is offering low-cost vaccines/services.
Currently vaccination clinics are contactless and by appointment only. The sign up link for each clinic will be posted on riverdaleanimalshelter.org and on the Riverdale Animal Shelter's Facebook page at 9 a.m. the Saturday before the Wednesday clinic. The next clinic is Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Cash and credit will be accepted. No Checks. For everyone's safety, all dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier. Please remain in your vehicle with your pet. Attendees, volunteers and staff must wear a mask at all times.
