Your Next Literacy Adventure Awaits
Shantel Isaacs
Library Assistant
Hi everyone! Shantel here. I am so excited to be a member of the Children's Department at BPL! If I haven't met you yet, please stop by and say hello the next time you are at Prosser.

It is a joy to showcase so many amazing books from various genres to our young readers in Bloomfield. We have titles on topics such as Kindness, Mindfulness, Multi-Cultural Awareness, Social-Emotional Awareness, Sports, and many more, in picture books, graphic novels, chapter books, and nonfiction, to name a few.

As a Library Assistant, I have the opportunity to assist children and families with finding just the right books, audiobooks, DVDs, and Family Backpacks for different ages. The Children's Department offers Storytime for toddlers that helps them develop a love of books and stories before they begin school. Parents can join the fun and enjoy these phenomenal activities whether virtual or in-person. Come into Prosser Children's Department for an exciting literacy adventure. Hope to see you soon!

Social Justice Book Club: Minor Feelings by Cathy Park Hong
Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30PM
As the daughter of Korean immigrants, Cathy Park Hong grew up steeped in shame, suspicion, and melancholy. She would later understand that these “minor feelings” occur when American optimism contradicts your own reality—when you believe the lies you’re told about your own racial identity. With sly humor and a poet’s searching mind, Hong uses her own story as a portal into a deeper examination of racial consciousness in America today. Copies of the book are available at the Library. For Adults.
